I did have a lot of freezing rain when I left for work this morning. There was a coat on the car and the roads were glare ice, but that was at 4:45am. The g/f said its just raining now...This message is to serve as a Warning only and is not a call to action:
Bottom line, we have a mess from now until Friday.
We may see some significant ice accumulation.
Up north, they have received about 4-5" of snow and are now getting freezing rain. Expect as much as .2 -.4 inches accumulation today. Some changes to the pattern and temperatures tonight, before phase three begins Thurs night.
Worst would be in parts of the north central region Thurs night and Friday. Worst case total ice accumulation in that region could exceed 3/4", which is not good.
In the south along the coast, we are looking at something more along the lines of 1/4 - 1/2 inch of ice Thursday night into Friday.
Storm track and temperatures uncertain at this time.
The Maine JOC will participate in Maine Emergency Management Agency Teleconferences when scheduled.
Again, this is message is not a call to action.
