sound system

oh that clean sweep looks nice. does that connect right to the the stock head unit? Im not really looking to get the best sound or nothing just need a lil base nothing fancy. I've had a 600 watt amp in my integra power a 15 inch sub that was only like 250-300 watts i think lol i dont think a 600 watt amp would be bad im not planning on using the full power of the amp. Im not quite so sure how much watts my sub has but its a 10" JL w3v2, somebody was telling me that underpowering a sub could blow the sub but im not that technical with stereos so i wouldnt know aha. Does sanford sound sell the line out converter? if they do id prolly have to splice into my speaker wires right? I just want something to bump on my 40 minute drive to portland everymorning lol the stock base in my car just sounds horrible but im eventually gonna go to an aftermarkt in dash dvd/cd lcd screen just not going to be anytime soon

i can get you a direct plug in adaptor believe that will plug in the back of factory head unit and give you rca outputs. with out having to splice into your rear speakers. most box store bought converters will have to be spliced in and can be a pain in the hinney. I just got one for my uncles vet. it was like $45. i will check monday to see if i can get the same type of thing for 02 wrx
have you had any luck finding a plug in line-out converter?

Sanford Sound is an Alpine dealer so they should be able to get one if the don't have any in stock. Just remeber that it's like $300. That's the same as a good head unit which will give you your RCA pre-outs.

Yes, underpowering a sub is bad just like overpowering one (blowing). Also if you have an amp that is way more than the sub needs, you have spent money for power that you aren't using. The right tool for the right job.

what should i use for my remote wire? are the factory wires labeled? i used the antenna wire in my integra i was wondering if i could in the wrx

I don't remmeber specificly, but I would say that #14 the power antenna would work for you.

At one point I put a switch in the line for the amp signal. That way I could kill the amp drinving my subs when I saw a cop or was stopped at a light.

I think the accessory one stays on because subaru does wiring differently. They put the switch on the negative rather than on the positive. I think, sombody else can correct me.

my harness doesn't have number 14 theres a spot there but theres no metal to connect anything on that site u gave me it says that 97-03 doesn't have power antenna or no metal contact on number 14 so i guess im **** out of luck gotta find a new wire to hook the remote to

There are other wires back there that shut off with the key. Try the cigarette lighter. All you are looking for is a signal, not any kind of voltage. As long as you are sure it is attached to the key, almost anything will work.

i hooked it up to the illumination wire so now my amp only turns on when my lights are on aha that's just temporary but ill probably end up wiring it to the cigarette lighter soon

crapp my system goes high and low randomly like it would be bumping hard then it would be bumping lightly anybody know whats up? loose connection? bad amp? i checked the connections and they all seem to be nice and tight it would also do it when i wiggle the wires a lil on the rcas and power and ground and what not anyone know whats up

My first sound system had a similar problem. The space for the radio was a little shallow so the RCA's ended up getting pinched when the radio was fully latched in the DIN. For some reason one channel would cut off and on so the sub would change sound. It would unpinch when I was accelerating and pinch under normal conditions.

So I would check all the wires for pinch points or other loose connections.

If you can't find any, the alternator is another good guess. I think that a lot of shops can test your electrical system fairly easily.

alright i checked the rca wires where i ran it through my car and it doesn't look like its pinching anywhere. Whenever i move the rca wire closest to where its connected to my amp or even just touch it that's where the sound level is changing if it sounds low ill touch the wire a lil bit and it'll be at its high power where i like it. Im wondering if i need a new rca wire or it could be the amp. that's the only thing i feel might be the problem

Sounds like something inside the amp is moving around a little and messing with the signal. I had that happen to one of my old ones.

Bad ground, internal (amp) or external, maybe?
