Does anyone have a recommendation for quieting the engine? It sounds like a jet engine when it firsts cranks.

I've been thinking about trying to change oils, and even put some synthetic into it.

Any suggestions are welcomed!

I use Marvel mystery oil in the crank and the tank. Can't go wrong with premium. Always fully synthetic. Wal-Mart carries mobile 1 extended for like 21$ 5 at jug. Amazon basic for like 18$.

Is it a turbo? when i first start up my 09 FXT, it sounds a little like a jet but that's only until the waste gate (at least that's what i think it is) shuts, maybe 30 sec after start up

I've read material that Mobil 1 isn't nearly as good as it use to be. Have had a recommendation of Motul 8100 Xcess 5w40 and a Mazda N3R1-14-302 filter, both available on Amazon, The Mazda filter, made by Tokyo Roki, is a direct spin on but is deeper with more/filtering capabilities. I don't think I've ever seen such a small oil filter as the OEM Subaru filter size.

I'll have to check the other oil car sites...but I thought Mobile 1 was still great. I run it in my Honda as it takes 0w type oil.

When you say you put it in the tank......can you tell me exactly what you mean by that?

Gas tank. Can replace up to 20% of your oil with mystery oil at change and you can put it in every few gas fill ups like you would some octane boost.
