So I guess my first 4 events were to make Mike feel better... against a poorly prepped car, with a good driver

pretty much jer. i think that if you got your car up to par with ours you would be right there with us!!

my suspention is still pissing me off. it doesn't feel right, and i can't put my finger on what it is, and alignments aren't cheep!!

Bring it to my house.

How was the sweet STU win Sun? I can see why you couldn't take a day off to go to Devens the points race is really heating up....
Thanks for the pics Mr. and Mrs. Pie.

PS Talk has been about making trips down Jul 20th and Aug 17th just so everyone knows.

maybe i'll take you up on that someday soon, i need to figure out my settings for my drive style first haha
I would! What are your spring rates? What's the diameter of that B9 bar? What's the diameter and adjustability of your rear bar?

215 195 front rear the B9 is a 27 mil i think and the back from what i can gather, it came on the car is adjustable 20-24 mil.

my problem is really the turn in. at the apex the car just really loads up the outside front tire i know that's normal but it seems worse then last year, i've tried to change my driving style but even on the street it feels like that wheel is just buckling under

right now i have... and im guessing i've had two alingments -2.5 ish probaly less in the front zero toe and in the back it's i think at max stock neg camber, i got fed up with the camber bolts and just put them back to stock. i like how the rear feels, with the sway set at 24 and the rear camber, the front just doesn't feel right at the limit, there a big dead spot then it turns in. im just nit picking here really the car drive fine but it could just be better. lol

Biggest things to improve turn in, More spring (STX wrxs are running like 500 lb springs). Bigger front sway (but you've covered that). What do you have for sturts again. Struts with stiff compression built in (especially for heavier springs) are going to turn in well. Most of your cheaper adjustable struts and coilovers are only adjustable in rebound (which usually is looked at for ride quality).

If you had some sweet shocks that compression was very stiff for low piston speed stuff (turn in, weight transfer) and had a kneel over point for high speed stuff (going over bumps, the kneel over point makes it softer and sucks up more of the bump) that would be really awesome for turn in I would think.

Also, toe out helps turn in also. Andy Hollis on his STS2 miata wasn't happy till he had almost a QUARTER OF AN INCH toe out. Not good for the road, but apparently very awesome for turn in. Apparently lots of national STS cars are set up like that also.

im runing GR2's which from what i've read are what the prodrives are suposed to be matched to. well a stockish rate shock. im not changeing the suspention yet. eventully i'll put in some good coil overs but i don't have that kind of money right now. the turn in doesn't bother me to much it's how the car acts in the corner. maybe i have a blown shock or something but it just fights the whole way. and scrubs the outside tire. maybe more camber in the front would help. i need to check this weekend and make sure nothing broke or bent down there too.

but im going to wait till my new brembo rotors get here cause my brakes right now are junk. and i have at least one bent rim and a few others that aren't quite as round as i would like haha

Mikey, before any major changes I think you need other CMC Hotshoe's to drive your machine on a fun run or run it completely to give you a different perspective on your setup.

Im sure Antonio, Gabe, Andy, Peter, or I might even come out of retirement to do so!

I REALLY liked Peter's RS @ Storyland with 550lbs of extra human weight in it! I thought it handled awesome with decent grip! It could have been a bit stiffer with more camber in the front and rear with more toe out in the front. But I did notice his brakes were poo. And I believe he has addressed that since then.

id welcome anyone to give it a spin. i think im going to have peter hussel it down some back roads this weekend. my brakes right now are absoulte crap. but that should be fixed thursday. im hopeing that makes enough of a diffrence. there is no right or wrong car set up, everyone drives diffrently im just trying to find my best set up.

if your ever in my neck of the woods your welcome to take it for a spin and see what you think.

I've driven mike's car on the road bunches of times and i think i feels fine. :dontknow:

I would like to see what it does at the limit though.

Indeed my brakes have been fixed. They are little soft the first time using them cold. Nature of the setup and Red Stuffs seam to like being warmer when pushed hard.

And -3 f and -1.5 r isn't enough negative camber for you john?

-3.5 front with 1/4 total toe out front.

-3.0 rear with 0 toe.

Then go 700/700 ZZYZX Coilovers with Adjustable front and rear bars. Along with slamming the car as low as possible for lower CG.

Plus, 17x7.5 wheels with 225/45/17 Bridgestone's
