The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

sounds good. I wouldn't mind taking a peek at that frame, but I fear that it is out of my league.

but I may seek your advice on a roadbike on a budget.

The frame is the sweetness. I bought one back in 1999 and rode it until 2009. Titanium is king. Mine is currently setup as my winter bike w/ a carbon rigid fork, 1x9 drivetrain and studded tires. The one that is for sale is the wife's which we bought in 2002 or 2003. She never rode it very hard. In the two 24hr races she did, I don't think it was on that frame either.

You can take mine for a spin around the yard.

under $600. I have been surfing Clist for used. I am not sure that I will enjoy it (biggest fear). I am tempted to buy a $300 SS from Bikes Direct as I am enjoying the SS MTB when I get out (and it pushes me).

Don't hate me........... but I just ordered myself a 29er and my wife a 26" bike from BD.com It's been way to long since I've owned a bike. Let's hope this one doesn't get stolen or isn't a POS.

The last "real" bike I owned was a 1997 19" Mongoose Sycamore SX when they were not Wal-Mart bikes from Joe Jones.

bring 'em down to my place when they come in. I have pretty much all the tools you will need and the stand.

Which bikes did you get from BD.com? I've heard some good things about them... seen quite a few Motobecane 29ers on the trail too. $$ goes pretty far on that site.

I'm clearing out 26ers from my garage. I'm not going back to little hoops and I need to pay for the newest addition that Santa brough the wife.

I got a Gravity 29er. package 2. http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/gravity/29point2.htm#specs and my wifes is a Hybrid Windsor. http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/dover3.htm

I hope the frame is alright. If I have to upgrade the parts, I'm ok with that.

Wow! $549 is a killer price! I haven't read much about the Gravity frame but I haven't heard anything bad. Most people say it is a great entry bike into the 29er world. It has a decent mix of parts.

So when does it arrive so we can get you out on the trail to break it in???? Conditions are great right now. Frozen ground, no snow.

Roadbike, what you looking for. I might unload my Bianchi Giro. Great shape, since I never ride it.

what size and how much?

my buddy had a Bianchi steel framed something or other back in college. I think I still base everything on that.

Mike, I will probably sell my mountain bike, I don't ride that unless there are kiddos in tow. Take the monies and make a sweet single speed out of my moongoose(pre walmart..lol)

been some decent stuff popping up on the bike deal websites:

www.bonktown.com

www.chainlove.com

Picked me up a set of Michelin Pro3 Race tires today... weeeee!

Any shorter folk looking for a single speed 29er?? A co-worker is selling his Raleigh XXIX. Carbon handlebars, carbon rigid fork... pretty sweet. Not the lightest 29er frame but it's a great place to start out if you want a SS 29er.

I posted it in the For Sale forum.

I finally got both bikes in. I rode it for about an half hour. I know I have not biked in years, but man, I think the 29" wheel feels great.
