The **Official**What color should I paint my garage thread

Light colors for the walls and ceiling for sure. And lights mounted on the walls, so you can see while laying under the Miata

And if you plan on running a big compressor, or a welder, or any of the other toys (or tools, call them what you will) you will need more than 20A. Have fun!

well I have the old electric heat run wich was 40A if I remember correctly. and I have a 220 run from the second Range (no longer installed).

my little welder runs fine on a 20A drop. and until I get into a larger compressor I will be fine. I do want a 2 stage compressor. just because it will be quieter.

and the door on the right goes into the basement. so I have the perfect spot for the compressor.

Let me know when you want a hand again. Do you plan on putting up peg board on the wall? And then paint that brillant white.

maybe.

I think I am going to hold off on most of the paint until I can run some new electrical and find a better routing for the low voltage stuff.

and I think I am going to run the speaker wire behind the sheetrock as well, and a cable drop in the garage too.

A 60 amp sub panel would be perfect for what you will plan to do. Don't go to cheap on the electrical. you will regret it. I told MANY a customer " Just one 15a mp and one 20 amp feed is not going to cut it"

So jealous of the clean garage pics. I wish I had that much room. I only get to use one bay of my folks messy garage when I'm home.

Have fun painting.

I am using the grey Rustoleum solvent based 2 part epoxy.
that part looks good. the floor was degreased, shotblasted, then etched. so I don't think I will have any adhesion problems with it.

I figure in a couple years if it wears down I will do the pour method with some Ucoatit product.

the walls are my next project, but I think I am going to be doing some rewiring first. There was only one 15A run in the garage.. Between Brighton, my father, and me, a 20A run was made.

but I think a bit needs to be improved for it to be a "real" shop.

but at least I can get the floors done well before any cars or stuff gets dumped on it again.

*EDIT* Pix added here and at the top

I have not used the Rustoleom epoxy paint, but any 2 part epoxy paint is good. You could even get some flakes for the speckled look! Can't wait to see the finished pix!

After you figure out what works best with the 2 part epoxy let me know because im going to be doing mine in a few weeks.

I might do that, just because I can.

There is a feed running to the Barn as well. and I may get a pair of pannels and do it that way. The electrical in the garage needs some attention. and I figure I am going to drop the celing to get to the bottom of the "WTF were they thinking?" questions we have when revisiting the setup in there.

The Lights were wired in with no connection boxes or anything. we remidied that by putting new cordage and plugs on the lights, then adding boxes and a dual outlet in the celing where the wires came through originally.

there are still a couple runs in the celing that we are unsure of, they are not live, but we are not sure where they go.

if you are thinking of doing the epoxy, make sure you degrease the floor and presure wash it multiple times. after I did all of that, I rented a shot blaster and did the entire floor with it. the rental totaled $250. but there is no way this **** isn't sticking to the floor now.

ok. I got the floor finished tonight. My pix suck. But all I have is the phone till everything is hooked up.

wow that looks really good. once you finish up the walls, and toss some paint around its going to look really nice.

im so jealous. the one thing i wanted when we were looking for houses was a 2 bay, heated garage. i didnt get it. but at least i got something. its big enough to put the car in out of the snow, and i can semi-work around it.

whens the next MS install day???
