The STI vs EVo Fact no one mentions

Consumer reports is a bunch of garbage in my opinion at least with cell phones. They seem to be old fashioned and miss informed.

Did you smoke your breakfast today? I don't know if we can be friends anymore Rob.

lol i kid i kid...

the way i see it, STIs were born to rally. the EVOs need a little more persuasion.

Driven hard, WRX/STi motors frequently crap out between 50-60k, along with the turbo, etc.

Your warranty will have conveniently expired by then, no worries.

The trannies, if driven hard, seem to last about as long, depending on the owner.

If your car sees nothing but commutes, and never a track or drag strip, your results will undoubtedly be better.

If you build a "track car, for the road", like I wound up doing, then be prepared to suffer major reliability issues no matter how high-quality your 'mods are.

IMO DSM builds a fairly poor quality car, but from what I've found since owning two Soobs and one DSM, is that Subaru doesn't build CLOSE to a "Honda quality" car, by a long shot, either. Oops.

That said, either car's reliability is for shizz, when heavily modded-almost any car's is.

OEM vs. OEM with no abuse, IMO the Subaru is a FAR better build and will outlast a DSM +95% of the time.

yeah when i mentioned consumer reports i was refering to reliability not performance. mitsubishi always has electrical issues tranny issues little stuff here and there that should not be an issue on a 35k car. I like the thign abotu si;s for chicks evo's for dudes. its kind of true. the average girl if they saw an evo and sat inside would think its a regular 20k lancert. but driving down the street the average person will defiantly take some look backs on an sti

You guys are ****ing nuts. The Evo is not a DSM. Period.

Rob, The Evo was born for rally. It was made into a production car, so that the chassis could be used in rally. Kinda like another car I can think of.

As far as stock vs. stock, I would take an Evo hands down over an STi. They handle better, are faster, and don't come with pink accents.

Modded vs. modded, the Sti is a joke. But I'll play nice. I guess this is a Subi forum, so go for it, take your shots at the Evo. Next time you see one at a stop light, I wouldn't chance it though. Your bound to get your ass handed to you.

[/soapbox]

P.S. - I still love my subi.

Right, because besides the horribly off taste blue carpet, the STi is that much different inside? Evo's don't have Corbeau seats or anything. Man, have any of you guys seen an Evo in person?

Seen Evos, been in 'em, driven a couple.

And... They're the same poorly manufactured cars that Diamantes (roflmao!)

and Eclipses are, I assure you.

Check your NADA values, DSMs hold their value about = to a Kia.

Is there a good reason for that?

You betcha- DSMs are toilets, "turbo" or not.

Like I said, IMO Subaru isn't a top-built car, either, but it's no DSM pos,

that's for sure.

looki hate to say it but i agree the interiors of the older sti's are awfull. i absolutly hate that blue on the inside but im talking abotu the new evo and new sti. you cant tell me the new sti interior isn't bad ass. and the sti dosent have pink acdents they are definatly a nice bold red as well as the gauges floor lights tails lights etc. yes the evo is maybe faster out of the box and it certanly handels better but the reason i bought my sti first was because of functionality. you sure as hell cant fit your kids stroller in the evo liek i can in my sti. yes you better be jelouse on shopping days. second was the reliability. what quality car has mitsubishi ever built? every single car has been proven to be crap. the eclispe old and new all there sedans and especially there suv's. And the interior of the new evo's is horrible. if i got a rental car i would be upset with that interior. cand adjust seat height or telescope steerign wheel.you better hope you fit in there exactly perfect or your screwed. you have to buy a mr to get the leather so you have to give up a stick shift to get nicer materials. And the instument panel looks like an etch-a-sketch. yes evo performs awsome but i prefer something that will last me more than 60k miles and will keep its value if i ever decide to sell it and is actually nice ot be inside and can be proud if somone looks inside my car not just under the hood.

We all like what we like. There are tests and articles "proving" that everyone is right. Just drive what you want and try to appreciate others opinions and tastes.
