Thoughts on eBay parts?

i mean, probably, but one of the best parts of your car is that stock takeoffs from more performance oriented models will make a big difference. if a wrx RSB fits yours, check out getting an sti one then. make sure you get good mounts and endlinks for whatever new RSB you get, since yours are probably weak and shot anyway
Cool beans. So I'll probably just go with WRX takeoff RSB and endlinks and mounting brackets with bushings.

WRXes used 17mm rear bars in 04-05, while they were 20mm in 02 and half of 03. Is it worth waiting for a 20mm bar to pop up?

depends on the kind of ride you want really. sti aftermarkets are 22-25mm and those are pretty stiff so i assume 20mm will stiffen it right up

Well there's a set of front and rear sways on ebay for $140 shipped. They say they're WRX sway bars, but I can't tell if that means Subaru OEM or no-name brand for the WRX.

wow...I guess I'll wait for that! Did you get it on eBay or on one of the many Subaru forums?
NESIC or Nasioc. Look for for sale ads, or post a wanted ad in all the forums

not only that but the front wrx sway bar will not fit your car only the rear and ebay parts are usually what you pay for but your best bet is when you find a ebay part research it cause not all ebay parts are junk some parts will last as long and do the same job as some name brand stuff and even fit better some times.you can get a stock wrx 20mm rear sway bar from evergreen brand new for less than a $100 which would make a great improvment on your car and for front sway bars you have to stick to n/a cars for it cause the turbo one will not fit cause they have a diff. bend where the downpipe comes down off the turbo

oh right

So I'd get a WRX or STI RSB, leave the stock FSB in for now, ebay strut bars (right?), i-wagon's extra grounding kit, and then call it quits.

While we're talking about crap I want to put on my car, I have a quick question. My car didn't come with a map light cluster (on the ceiling above the mirror), but there's one for sale on NABISCO for $25. I want to grab it, but I have absolutely no idea how easy or hard it would be to install. Obviously, I'd have to cut into the headliner, but would I have to remove the whole thing? Are there wires up there for some wagons that did have stock map lights?

edit: and of course, better tires once the snow is gone (only because I won't be driving in snow much) and probably wheels.

no sti rear sway bar just wrx and if you car come with the option of the map light than it wouldn't be hard to install

if it did there should be wires already there under the ceilling panel

cause if anything was an option on your car it is already pre wire for it whether it was on the car when it was sold new or not

So far I haven't found any info on whether it was an option or not (cars101.com). I guess I can start browsing nasioc to see if anybody has 'em.

I just don't want to pull down the headliner to check

come get it, or i can give it to someone up here that might get down there

and if the map light was optional for your year obs the wires should be there. my car was optional for rear cargo light and fog lights and such, which i added later and were all pre-wired. the only thing i had to do was buy switch and relay for the fogs, i imagine everything would be there for map lights

Sweet. I'll see what I can do (oxford is a long way away, but I can probably make it sometime), or I can wait for someone else to chime in.

The problem is that I still haven't found any info on whether there were map lights. I'm going to start browsing galleries to see if I see any.

...Nate, a flat rate usps box is $8.00, you can always pre-pay for one and send it to whoever has parts for ya...

Fwiw, eBay is a good place to shop for name-brand parts, not knock-offs-which most often, SUCK.

"Caveat Emptor" are Words to Live By, regarding eBay.

Also-always use paypal-if you get sold schit, you're covered by them.

Are you saying the boxes are $8, or the shipping is? USPS has the smaller "flat rate packages" and I think medium ones also for free in the post office. Either that or they're on a rack near the line, and you're supposed to pay for them at the desk...
