Toolbox Talk

Pedro there are only like 2 box manufactors in the US for all the tool box makers. They just sub out there work. Then build it to 'whoevers' spec.

I am going to do some homework for you. I am in the metal biz. If I can see if one of these guys are one of our customers I may be able to get you a discount.

I know we sell some stuff to some tool makers. Not sure about boxes. I will post up here if I find anything out.

Thanks for the offer man, but I brought one home last night.

I know that this is not snap-on quality stuff. But I am a homo-ner with a butload of tools from racing and wrenching. But here is the best part: $470 including tax!

they are BB drawers, with detent catches. don't dare me to stand in a drawer cause it isn't going to happen. This thing leaves me some $$ to organize and update my tool collection and get my garage in order. previously I was operating out of a 26" stacked craftsman unit that couldn't even come close to holding everything.

yeah I happened by it when I was looking for some gloves and about shat myself. it is about equal (build quality) to the mid lower end crapsman boxes (the first rung up with BB slides).

the big drawer is nice and deep and should hold what I need for sockets, the rest we will see.

Nice box Pedro. I have my tools in a small tackle box, drawers in the basement, and on the work bench. Someday I will get a real tool box and make some sense of it.

2 words... Peg Board.

probably not going to happen in the garage. in the basement maybe (it is through the door by the nose of the miata (can't see it). the holders on the pegboard will put some nasty scratches in things like your face or body pannels.

i don't know how rugged that thing is by looking at it, but my dad has a fairly large craftsman that;s as tall as me, and the drawers all warped and won't open from stuffing too much stuff in them. just something to bear in mind when distributing tools

im looking for one too! still in UTI for Automotive Technology...

ive been looking at the Mac Tech 1000. my uncle has one, awesome box. used ones go for like 3500 though

for the sub $1000 level you're either looking at a crazy CL deal or crapsman/huskey

on a side note, i saw the one with the refrigerator. ridiculous haha

i personally liked the Craftsman much better then Lowes brand. Drawers seemed smoother, and sturdier. Sears also had a poster telling all the gauges of metal used in each box.

Just remember that it's the tools that will make you money and not the box that holds the tools. I worked out of a craftsman box for years until I filled the box and decided being an auto tech was what I wanted to be before I bought my used snap-on top and bottom box.

The steel that makes the drawer is definitely on the thin side, but you will notice that it only has one full width drawer. and that drawer has welded in dividers that keep the rigidity. The rest of the box is split down the middle and uses drawers out of the 26" boxes. so basically this is two 26" boxes stuck together with a middle box that is full width. for sub $500 out the door it is the best deal I could find.

and I don't make any money by wrenching other than rally, and my tools are majority craftsman.

Alright, I only ask because I've been looking to snag something up.
understandable. I just have not had a chance to get anything put in it yet. I am picking up some new socket organizers in the next few days so hopefully I can get it together.

Currently the home depot in Waterville has a couple 26'' Husky tool chests, top and bottom with bb slides and locks for $159 per SET. Just saying. I work there. There also is some 53'' wide bottoms with a stainless top on it that does not lock with BB slides for $300. I'd rather get two of the 26" though for that price.
