Watches

Guys/Girls feel free chime in. I'm getting ready to purchase a new watch and I have been soliciting advice from all my friends. What do you think a good amount of money is to pay for a nice watch you will probably wear every day for a number of years? What kind of watches do STM rock?

Remember, you asked. I use a Timex, analog, with the date. If I could find a windable, I would buy it. :

I know, I'm a hick. And proud of it. ;D

well, personally i think 1,000+ is a little excessive for a watch...but i was looking at these little guys a while back...both under $250

I'll drop a C note or 2 on a watch.

I have the same philosophy with sneakers.

Why buy one expensive one when you could buy a couple

cheaper ones and have a selection?

That said, penguin has a neat line of watches that start at

a hundred and go up to about 300. The styling is pretty unique,

the one i have tends to catch peoples eyes.

Yea, I have been looking at a Tag Heuer Carerra (blue face)... I'm in love with this thing but not so much with the price tag. Here's a pic.

I like the F1 model too ( the orange one above, but hate the bezel!)

I was SOOO good this summer ( I didn't buy ANY cool toys).... don't you think I deserve this?

http://www.jomashop.com has great pricing.

Myself and a couple friends have bought watches from there in the past with no issues whatsoever.

I like some of the simpiler TAG watches but a lot of them are pretty damn busy.
jomashop is about $400 more than I was quoted for the same watch at Jared and Hannoush. What kinda watch you got Trev?

Seiko Kinetic in titanium. It's pretty small only a 39mm crown so it fits well on my dainty little wrists

I shopped around for TAGs etc when I was looking but I beat up my watch way too much to justify the cost.

For lasting power: Citizen Eco Drive.

Mine has lasted 8yrs no problem. and before I was buying a new watch every 6-12mo Timex, Swiss army, you name it. Solar charging, never skips a beat.

The Tissot T-Touch is da bomb! Titanium w/ the rubber band. You can also get it with a titanium band but I have issues with metal bands on my scrawny wrists. Super light weight and you just press the button on the side to activate the face then touch away to get the thermometer, barometer, altimeter, chronograph, compass, and alarm.

Me likey.

I love my Movado's. Real thin and I've never had problems with any. I've got a couple Movado's and a ESQ for beating around.

People think $800-$900 is a lot to spend on a watch, but if you divide the days you have it by the dollars spent, it doesn't look so bad. ;D Days Jewelers in Auburn has a ton of nice watches.

Plus, it's nice to look down at your wrist and see it.
