Weird Sounds from a 98GT

Well, check oil, bearings, etc. Until you check around it's gonna be hard to tell.

If you suspect it's coming from the transmission. Pull the trim around the shifter and pull the rubber boot off around the shifter base. If the noise is a lot louder coming out of the hole, it's more likely transmission .

Same for the noise from the rear. Check the bearings and the oil in the diff. What's on the drain plug tells a big story.

Put the seats down, have someone ride in the back and see if they can pinpoint the noise.

No amount of internet diagnosis is going to fix this till you do some investigation. We can point you in the right direction, but you need to do the work.

So apparently I was wrong, I went to a less traveled location and had some people listen to the noise from within the car and outside the car. The whining noise (front) only occurs when I am NOT on the clutch, and it can be heard from outside the car a little during acceleration as well as a definite sound during decel (louder). It does go away when the clutch is pressed. Didn't pull the boot this time, will do that tomorrow. For the sound from the rear, nobody could hear the noise when the car was in motion, only while it sat still idle. So it's going up on jack stands as soon as I can get the bikes out of the garage.
