What is the fastest/most fun car you have ever driven?

fast vehicle ive been on (not a car) was my old 2002 gsxr 1000. good god! i could dump the cluch in second while going 50mph and it would just lay about 100ft of smoking rubber. my buddies always loved to have me do that. pretty spectacular to see the bike not pick up any speed but just start blistering the tire.

Fastest: Nate's STi at Stage 2, mine will soon be faster, but my issues with my tune prevent my from having a lot of fun with. Fastest vehicle was my R6 for the short time i owned it.

Fun: My STi, or my old Jeep Wrangler. (I suppose more like off road fun)

I've been very fortunate to drive quite a few cool toys. As far as pure speed goes, any one of the Turbo GSXR's we built would fall into that class. A TurboBusa is a hell of a bike. As far as most fun would go, I'd say either the shops 580HP 04STi, the Evo9Rally Car, Or, our pretty much stock Solstice around the autocross course.

My 90 Talon AWD was probably the fastest I went on 4 wheels, coincidentally, it was keeping up with an older SHO on 95N.

Fun Times!

Let me guess, that was Maniac Spec B you were following? I also owned a 92 black SHO and I can even remember the speed in gears: 1/45 2/60 3/90 4/130 5/140 (165 w/ NOS).

This is a true "gone in 60 seconds" story about a SHO that out ran the state police through Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. The report was suppose to say Haverhill, MA instead of Haverhill, NH.

1) Racing oval offset kart. Modified Tucumsah. I could pull the front wheels off the pavement coming out of the turns of the 1/5th banked oval.

2) Banzai run across the Kancamangus 4 am, 2002 WRX. NOT ONE SINGLE OTHER CAR was on the entire road that morning.

3) Banzai run down the "10 Mile" outside Barstow, CA. 1977 Camero LT. 10 Miles of straight, flat, dessert. 10 freaking miles! Gas was $0.80/gallon on post. I burned a half tank every time I went for it. Speedo was burried, it only went to 110 or 120. I was probably going 498mph.

:D

87 monte carlo, olds 454 big block, edelbrock headers, intake, 750 4brl carb., true dual exhaust, ratchet 4spd auto, with line lock, single track. that thing would go like stink, in a straight line, handled like crap and a simple throttle blip would land you sideways in a hurry.

anyone that lived in the Camden Rockport area 5 or 6 years ago, may have seen this redneck mobile, it was black and decaled like Dale Earnharts #3 stock car. no kidding.

I had my 89 till till summer of 94 when I traded it in with 155K on it. Great car broke the rear shock mounts a couple of times, crank sensor went at 145K and original clutch at 150K that`s all. The original Yamaha engines were the best. Loved that car, most people didn`t know what the hell it was the first 2 years. Use to come screaming up to cars on the highways and they would scatter, probably thought I was an unmarked

On the Kacamangus what speed did you take that hairpin turn at

I was over at my buddy's house when a family friend was over for dinner. When he came inside he threw us the keys and said "go have some fun"

It was identical to this (top down). All I know is that it was bi-turbo and pushed you back in the seat like nothing else!

specs: V-12 bi-turbo 612BHP!

The fastest I have gone is 130+ in a Mitsu 3000GT. Not my car.

Fastest in my car. Buried my GTI at 126, then the engine cut off.

Most fun in summer, was the GTI, she was a great little car. As for snow, the AWD in the Saabaru is a blast.

most fun i have had in a car was the time i used my brother Rezdogs 93 impreza after a day of LDR testing, i took the LONG way home from the testing facilty through the back woods, as the team took the short route out of the woods (about 15 miles) i took the long way (about 40 miles) and still caught them at the main juntion back into civilization. i think the car was in 4th gear most of the way and the brakes were fading fast lol!

shhhh dont tell my brother.

Is this mysterious SHO that you guys are talking about a Ford Taurus SHO?
You got it right. The original ones came with blueprinted engines from Yamaha and bench tested to 8500 rpm. Ford set a fuel cut off at 7400 to keep the belts on

So I just youtubed this. Umm, yeah... that is a sweet motor. That is one of the coolest looking intake manifolds I've ever seen! Now you got me thinking about a new project idea with that engine. With forced induction and in a GM product of the late 80s... Ooooh this could be good...

It was a very high tech motor for its time, 20 years ago. The dual plain intake manifold allowed you to run on drawing air thru the long tube and 1 intake valve up to 4000 rpm for better low end response. Once you went above 4000 rpm the short tube opened up to draw air thru the 2nd intake valve for max power.

I hope you're not thinking of Fiero SHO, lol. It's only 220bhp. The Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5SE has 270bhp and can be tuned to the Z's 330bhp in a 3200 lb. car, no project needed, except bigger tires.

Haha, yes Fiero SHO. I've always wanted to build a Fiero. Probably wouldn't actually use an SHO engine, but it would be kinda cool to see. If I was to build one, it would have an LSx and 6 speed from a G6. Really wouldn't be that hard to build a 400hp mid engine rocketship...

I've actually explored the Fiero build a long time ago and it's just not worth it with the price of the Lotus Esprit and Ferrari 308 these days. I think the Esprit with the www.prototyperacing.com supercharged Honda 4 at 8k rpm would sound as sick as it looks. I've even seen the NSX and Pantera's for under $30k. At the end of the day I don't think mid-engine cars are daily drivers and are dry tarmac only.

....soooo, if I hadn't got the SVX and knew what I know now, I would've found a 911 C4 without a tranny and had http://renegadehybrids.com/ swap in a 400hp LS2 V8 with a supercharger and a widebody kit.

I have been lucky to drive sum interesting vehicles in my time.

I think legitimately the fastest I have ever been has been my 06 STi, everytime I really try to open it up I have run out of road... I have been very close to the end of my Speedo in Rte 2 in the vicinity of Farmington....Prior to that the fastest known I had ever been in a car was a 60's GTO convertible with a ram air 400 down the big hil towards Boston on Rte 2 in Belmont MA. At that point I was a passenger doin 140 with a smile.
