What to do with tax returns?!

So this month I'll be getting around 3500$ or more hopefully from school and tax returns, and originally my plan was to buy some nice wheels and tires but now as I keep thinking I would rather go with performance and just save up for wheels and tires. I'm always so paranoid that something is wrong with my car or that it's making weird noises etc.... and i always see kids upgrading just turbos and injectors and turbos and blowing their motors and I want to make a decent amount of power in the long run but I want reliable. Some of my thoughts were to pull my current motor and have it re-sealed and probably forged internals. Or do a 2.5 swap, but then I would have to back track and get the 2006-2007 wrx accessport since mine wouldn't be compatible.

As I said before I want to make some good power in the long run. i think I want to make about 300-325whp in the long run but reliable(main goal), maybe get 850cc injectors and a 16g blouch turbo...

What are peoples opinions on these? Also I want to have any supporting mods that will make everything more reliable.

Mod list to date:

3" catless turboback exhaust

STi catless up-pipe

SPT Intake

HKS SSQV BOV

Raceland Coilovers

Cobb AccessPort v2 Stage 2 Tuned 91 octane

I just swapped from auto to 5spd, i think i'll wait for this tranny to blow and do 6spd then lol

I'd say, keep it stage 2 so it'll be reliable, unless you want to do a 2.5 swap.  With the monies, buy some bc coils, some 17x9 wheels, and a fender roll from mike.  The rest can go into maintenance and money for wicked big meet in June.

if you do a 2.5 have your heads bored to match and keep all the 2.0 electrics. a well taken care of 2.0 can make 275whp with a larger turbo, a front mount and a good tune.

I'd sell the wrx and buy a sti if you want reliable long term power.  Less swapping involved. Or buy Mike's Legacy...

buying a used sti is not in my plans or budget, they have all been beaten on and I want to build mine since I have already put a bunch of money into it.

get rid of you ricelands and get some ISCs and get some proper wheels. make the car look and feel much better!!

Donate $20 to the site :-)

But seriously, you don't need to get a different accessport if you put a 2.5 in it. Ecu is the same, just need a retune.

What do you have for debt?

That is what you should focus on first.  Set yourself up to have money to play with the car once you are out of school and have a good paying job.  Doing this was what set me up to have the money to buy a house with a garage and have that as my only debt when I was 24.  I had money to play with car stuff.

+1

The only reason I can build a rally car is because I paid off all my crap ASAP.

This is the best advice so far. I know spending everthing on ones car is much more fun short term but if your dept is to high you will regret it later. If you are in good shape mod that pig with suspesion goodies. Power means nothing if you can not keep it on the road or between the cones. Just my 45year old opinion

Agree.  Put it towards debt.  Cash in hand year round is so much better than living week to week.  And you can also get some bonus material for the car then!  My wife and I are focusing on debt.

Yeah the first thing I'm going to do is general maintenance, then budget out the rest of what I have, I want to keep my car payment so that I can build credit so I'm not really in debt at the moment. I just want to do stuff to my car so that it will be reliable for a while under power when I start to make more of it.
