toyota tundra. they really are awesome. i worked for the toyota dealership, and 99% of tundras and tacomas were in for maintenece. the new 5.7 tundra is one powerful truck.

Ford modular motors (4.6,5.4 V10) have issues with the spark plugs blowing out, which can be costly to fix.

Most dodge transmissions and t cases suck.

GM's with the 4L60E transmissions can break the sunshell in the trans, or burn the 3-4 clutches. The Vortec is a good motor though.

personaly ive got a 95 1500 4wd gmc, which has the TBI motor which sucks for power, and a 96 chevy 1500 z71 that has a vortec motor with no 3-4th in the trans, which im going to fix and replace the 95 with. if i didnt plow driveways and tow a car hauler id have a older toyota, but the newer ones are a bit pricey for me.

ford does have issues with the spark plugs and head gaskets on certain years... I got lucky on mine... I think it was fixed in 03???

Dodge tranny's are better now too after 03 (i think).

You said you something about keeping the truck for 5-10 years? If so you better get a Toyota Tundra TRD (trd for the off road)! Cant beat that truck! I wish I had one... only newish truck gas truck I would buy! I am a diesel guy!

There are a few guys that live in around here with White TRD tundras... both of them are SICK!

Hmmm 3 of my least favorite brands I have to go with ford but just like everyone else said get a toyota or a titan. Are you plowing or towing or niether because all those trucks have strong and weak points except dodge those are just a pile of ****.

i actually just came back from the toyota place in auburn and looked at a black tundra rock warrior.. that thing is a beast.. and the price tag reads $36k which isn't all that bad for a brand new truck.. out of all the styles i like the rock warrior the most especially since i'll put a brush guard on it and take it out in the middle of nowhere.. i think looking at the toyota has completely changed my mind about trucks.. sorry american built trucks but i think i'll just have to go with a foreign job.. Tundra FTW! thanks for all the input guys..

well if your budget will stretch to $30k+ then you'd be making a mistake not to check out a new Ram. It's a whole 'nother beast from the bad old Rams where you'd be disappointed on a trip if something large and rusty din't fall off the vehicle.

so check it out, a new Ram just goes to show that the interior on a $30k truck can be every bit as nice as the interior on a $30k car. it's space utilization and chassis integrity will flat blow other trucks into the weeds. most of the motor mags characterize the new Ram as the very best vehicle Chrysler is building.

(unless you're lookin at an F-150 Raptor)

I dont know which ones best, but can offer first hand view of fords i see a lot. Under no circumstances ever buy any 6.0 diesel ford. $$$$ and leave you stranded. If you get a 5.4 make sure the plugs

are changed regularly, if wait too long insulator tip builds up carbon and they snap off! U have to see this design of plug to understand. They have ways to repair without cyl head removal but from what I have seen its iffy at best. Also I see a lot of v-10s with cracked exh manifolds and broken studs.

I like my new Silverado. It's a 2500HD Duramax with the 6spd. Alison auto. The interior is actually quite nice as well, unlike what was stated by someone previously.

there are many years.

the old square dodge is something to beat, if 360.

the fords are squishy

the chevy is everywhere

any today at new is most likely good.

there is a spell in the 90s with ford, EGR and crazy fuels. dodge is dodge. I stopped liking them after the 80s.

My sister has been driving the wheels off a 2500HD for several years now. that truck works like a mule, hauls ponies, boats, kids, skis, camping gear, sometimes all that stuff at once.

She don't baby it either. It's got dings and dents stem to stern, still runs like a champ.

Now my niece drives it daily, 16 years old, goin to skool. Must be nice, my first skool driver was a 67 land rover that broke down at least once a week. "Hello Mr Gas Station guy, can you fill the oil and check the gas?"

F-150 Raptor...

these are awesome

Heh, yes super truck, Just Apply Money -- LOTS of it, $46k for starters

for that kinda dough, you could buy a very nice well built rally prepped WRX and go race Travis & K Block. On the other hand, $46k for what amounts to a Stock Class desert race truck ain't half bad. (wonder if the Ford warranty is valid in Baja?

We have an '08 Tundra Crewmax TRD, black, and we love it. Goes like hell (Car & Driver's did 0-60 in 6 secs flat...), awesome stereo (JBL, 12 speakers, 450 watts), etc. Awesome.

yeah i've converted to Toyota i think. once i ge back i'll see whats on the market bt a of now i'd go with the Tundra Rock Warrior.

Fords are toilets that occasionally don't flush (believe me I was a tech. for them) and Dodge ..... well I would not buy one of those unless you like to change transmissions a lot.

I'm sure there is plenty of negative talk about Chevy but I have friends that really enjoy theirs.

just throwing it out there, if anyone wants to buy a chevy come to quirk chevy in portland and see me ill give you a deal!
