Windows 7

So this post made me download it and give it a try.

Holy fast OS! I'm running it on my 7 year old computer and its flying! Faster than my 2 year old laptop! If it stays this awesome I'll buy it for sure.

Looks like KDE, as easy as a mac, faster than a subaru!

KDE sucks... especially KDE4. Just thought I'd put that out there... haha

EDIT: well, ok, KDE isn't that bad I guess, in terms of a graphical window/desktop manager. But KDE4 really does blow.

The worst part is Mark Shuttleworth sunk a couple million KDE. Why, I don't know.

The main thing that pisses me off is that Qt and GTK aren't really compatible as they should be. And I prefer GTK... so KDE is kinda out for me.

It's really too bad about KDE/QT, I really liked amarok. Also, every KDE app starting with a K is stupid.

To get back on topic, I never used Desktop Gadgets on my vista laptop. Are there any worthwhile gadgets or am I just going to look at this goofy CPU meter and weather forcast and call it a day.

Uh, I started that thread. Having linux on my home server is enough for me.

I was just referring to the visuals. KDE looks very nice, and the menu bar in Windows 7 really reminds me of the one my old linux distros used.

 
i have 7 installed on my lenovo s10 netbook runs amazing on a netbook. i had the beta and now RC1 they both works great and boot close to as fast as XP. as far as gadgets i use app launcher and then hide all other desktop icons in vista, but in 7 its hides the the gadgets too so i am working on it. but i use that to clean up my desktop. I also had the bianary clock for geek value for a while

Is anybody running the x64 client? I downloaded it because my brother has 4gb of RAM only to find out that his wireless adapter doesn't have x64 drivers.

Running 64 bit. Everything works but my sound card so I just threw an old creative 5.1 POS in. Other than that there's no real issues as long as your hardware is supported.

 
I had to find drivers for my SiL 3112 SATA and Realtek audio both onboard my motherboard, but both work fine now that I did.

I ran Win7 x64 for a while and I was really please with it...

Stopped using it becuase due to it's beta stage, Punkbuster doesn't waste their time with it...

(I.e. no COD4.

I'll but it when it goes retail, though, for sure.... it's a very nice and smooth feeling OS... plus right now I'm back on a basic 32 bit, which doesn't do my 8gb of ram much justice.
