Won't be active on MS anymore... (need computer help)

XBMC is a program, above I noted that it works on all platforms. Windows, Mac, and linux. Just download the program, slap on a good skin, point it at your media, and have fun.
As for your problem, I'd just say screw it and reformat. Windows likes reformats every once and a while, and the time you invest trying to solve your problem vs the time you invest reformating it may make more sense. Then again I suggest reformatting far to often so do as you wish.
For the most part I'm the "fix it" kind of person. Except for windows... If it won't boot I try a few basic things and then just give up. I really hate dealing with windows.... unfortunately most people use it and I end up dealing with it on a daily basis...

Windows is rarely worth salvaging. Back up the docs and reformat. When I'm on computer janitor duty, that's usually what I end up doing for people.

Yeah, but my only fear is that I've forgotten to back something up.

I don't really see what the big problem is with windows. It's quite customizable if you try. I don't like some of the practices of Microsoft though. The way I see it, Windows is also the only OS for games. Unless you update your computer hardware often, linux/WINE doesn't give great performance (in games).

I'm going to start a reformat soon. Does it matter what operating system to start with? Actually, I'll probably stick with just XP for now.

So back up the whole drive. That way if you forgot something you can have it. That's why I love having a 1TB raid, and about 2TB of random drives sitting around... I can shuffle data around however I want.

Oh, well, I way saying back it up, then re-format. That way you can just copy over your programs and files from the backup.

Gee, thanks

I reformatted and installed Vista. I'm just having some problems getting my Lan drivers to work

. My motherboard is so old I don't think that NF4 drivers were ever made for vista. At least, the ones on the disk won't work.

I'm pretty much done needing help, I just gotta find drivers
