Autocross 2007 Discussion

my race tire budget went to springs and shocks. i have those kuhmo supras that i bought off cape that I'm gonna race on. there nice and worn and should be relatively sticky

you wouldn't be street driving anything with tire softener on it.

I thought that is why you were getting a second set of wheels?

working on it. i had a few sets fall through. so my wheel money went into springs instead. im hoping to pick up a set of wrx take off for cheep over the summer

wait... which is the lower class? i need to look at the book again. i thought it went. STS STX street modified and then street prepaired

19 days till storyland!

I have RS 6 spokes w/yoko es100s w/80% tread in route.

Just bought AGXs on ebay.

prodrive springs are napping in the garage (thanks joel!)

Buying some Red Stuff pads online today.

Picking up some tune up stuff locally this week.

That should do me for storyland.

I'd like to get Rear endlinks, superblue brake fluid, tranny and diff fluid, and maybe exhaust headers and cat before the summer is over. There's just not enough time and money left in this month.

Now if only we can get the snow to stop coming.

Pedro.. I'm pretty sure the GC goes to DSP .. have to look.. it wouldnt make sense for it to go to a class with the WRX and DSM monsters.

Anywho.. Yeah.. no.. the class progression goes Stock->Street Prepared->Prepared->Modified. Street Touring and Street Modified were added later. Street Touring classes were added to have a class for someone with basic bolt ons could run a 'street tire'. That kind of goes in between Stock and Street prepared, however ST and SP share several allowances, SP does allow slightly more internal engine modification and transmission modification (Any LSD, overbore, etc etc). Now we get to Street Modified.. that fits in somewhere between street prepared and Prepared (without all the broken up subclasses). That was added to allow for rather complex suspension and the basic motor swaps (hondas, etc) and do almost endless engine modification without fully stripping the car. It was basically another class added almost as a catch all to attract more seriously tuned cars without the full fledged race car. Those are more or less my basic understanding and general opinion on the class sturcture.

Yes the flexy GC goes into DSP. That's where he should be...

As for the tire treatment that people were asking for it's called formula v tire treatment. You can get it at solo performance, i just had to buy some, but it's designed for race tires ie tires you dont use on the street ever.

I've good things about both EBC and Hawk. Giving the reds a go this year and putting axxis pads on the RS to feel the differences. I'll probably try hawks at some point. I'm sure they're all very similar.

BTW...

18 days till storyland!
