Axles Axles Axles

I have actually gone threw this before.....sucks!!!! but a press should work... just pay attention the how you set the hubs in the press I have accidentally flattened the strut bolt holes, ball joint holes and abs sensors trying to press out CV shafts and wheel bearings.. if this dose not go well I have sum front and rear hubs kicking around if ya need them... and it would be a good idea to replace the wheel bearings now.. especially on the stuck hub after the beating it has gotten the life of the bearing is greatly shortened. best of luck to you!! this is just prof to yall that a job that can be done in 20 min or less can turn in to a job that takes hours or days...

p.s.

on reassembly... never seize and assembly lube is your best friend!!!

I figured he'd have some fancy DONKEY press since he has a god damn bridgeport in his shop. Nope, turns out its a shitty press with a bottle jack and assembly. Once we got an axle in, it just flexed and warped the press.

Put the axles in a bench vice, put a chunk of steel on the stub, and hit it with a sledge. Two axles free, once left to go. It's drivers front, it'll get the torch and sledge.

Slow progress is being made. Being sick doesn't help. Good news is, one of the rear lateral link bushings got trashed in the process, that means Turn In Concepts upgrade bushings.

Suck it axle. Suck a fat one.

Trashed the joint yesterday, so we just took the boot off, then the shaft popped off. Then it was back to torching and hammering. The sledgehammer finally did the job, but completely trashed the wheel bearing and knocked a stud out.

Should be black not brown. Water must have got in and corroded the whole assembly. No idea how that could have happened....

Bottom left you can see the stool I've been sitting on, two paint cans.
