The road is tree lined and covered.

It is not traveled much at all.

Y'all & your concerns, life's too short to worry your way out of fun.

For three pages of posts there's not one person to go.

I'm bit shocked that the MODS and ADMIN. would even allow this thread to exist.

I'm all for fun but come on. Ummmm track days at NHIS, Autox, that's where you go to drive like this. What type of name is MS shooting for here???

^ I would think this would draw fewer red flags than the yes on 5 thread, lolz. Nobody said anything wrong other than possibly breaking the speed limit a little that I can see. If you drive a subie, your likely guilty of at least that sometimes. Looks like people might be trying too hard to read between the lines. This is no worse than saying that we were lucky we drew no police attention durring the group drive in my oppinion. Seems that 30 to 40 subies in a caravan on curvey roads trying hard to stay together in a group would make a bigger target than a few guys playing with thier cars on an a nearly abandoned road. I can probably find people doing dumber things with crappier cars on busier roads almost any day of the week. I have seen many police officers that own subies too, even met one a few years back that, I memory serves me right, had a 04 STI, only to later see him bombing the Weld Rd. but going in an opposite direction of me..... really quickly. The Weld rd. between Wilton & Weld is a much more populated than Bear Notch and has a lot of Moose too.

It's not just Subi owners who are guilty of speeding at least once, but I'm sure every single person who has a driver's license has sped at least 5 over, most 10 over, at least once.

I don't see anything wrong with it if you can get spotters at the ends of the roads, but you never know what animals could scurry across and freak out a driver.

....I could get hit by a bus while crossing the street, but that doesn't stop me from getting coffee in the morning.

I'm ROFLMAO watching people "read between the lines".

You guys have a nice, safe, boring life-leave the Fun to those of us who like to stretch a little.

"What if a squirrel crossed the road in front of you, at high speed?"

... I'd flatten it, and continue on my merry way. Easy.

Exactly.

Hmmm...

AutoX = cones in a parking lot.

Somehow... It doesn't seem to match up to a winding country road...

As to people being "irresponsible", well, that's what the gorge below is for-to keep you thinking.

if not, we apply "Darwin's Natural Theory of Selection", and press our suits for a funeral.

...And still... No takers??

...Okay, maybe a non-threatening video of the run will = milk & cookies.

I'm uploading a 300MB video of the best run > YouTube right now, stay tuned, it takes an hour+ for a file this big to upload.

I'll definitely watch the video. It better be up before math class ends! (math starts in 1 minute!).

What you are discussing is illegal, if you get caught, there will be consequences. If a date and time is talked about, I would be tempted to give the state police an anonymous tip myself. I don't care that you want to do this type of stuff, everybody does. But there are times and places for performance driving, but an unsanctioned "event" is not one of them. The attitude that you are exhibiting is pure street-racer. "I'm a good driver, nothing is going to happen, screw everybody else and their safety." I am sure the Hogan kid was thinking the same thing right before he drifted into a tree.

Why does it need to be reiterated that there are plenty of opportunities to feed your wild side, that while not entirely "safe" are perfectly legal. Saying AutoX doesn't match up to a mountain road may be a fair statement, but that's what hill climb events are for. Some people are fully satisfied with the challenge of autoX and some want to feel the speed of 100 mph coming off the front stretch at Loudon. I AutoCross, my dad road races with the BMW club and really doesn't like AX. Loudon, Watkins Glen, they all have HPDE days. To each their own, just do it legally. And if you must do it on public roads, don't talk about it here.

The screw you, I'm a safe driver attitude doesn't behoove you and doesn't shed a good light on the rest of the community. People who have the attitude that you are showing are not really welcomed at real racing events. The actions off the course, driving to or from events, reflects on the sanctioning body and causes venues to be lost. CMC can no longer race at UMaine because the powers that be where not happy with what went on before, after and around the events. For the most part, the people misbehaving where not the people racing, but spectators or students.

O, and FYI: I don't know about any other clubs, but CMC usually notifies the local police that they are holding an event and where. We want the cops to be around and watching. I personally have given one of the Bath cops a ride through the course. The people screwing around are not the racers. It's other people, we want them to get caught. I don't know how many times I have heard somebody peel out near the AX events.

That would make you....an assh*le.

Call it what you like, I call it snitching.

Very nice, that really shows character.

On that note-it's been amusing to see some of you "moralists" discuss the minutae of a drive most of you have never been on.

I also find it hilarious that it's created some really limp-wristed replies.

I'd still like to go, but now I'm afraid one of our "esteemed" members will call the PD.

Good times-forget I mentioned this whole thing, then, and if anyone wants to go, PM me and we'll set up something private, so we can't be snitched on.

The video is still "processing", I'll post it soon.

Try and have alittle fun, and some pissant crybabies always have to get in the way.... Snitching....UNBELIEVABLE....

Here's the first run, the second (uploading now) is the best....

I burned a quarter tank of gas in < 30 miles....

I can't speak for NH but if you called the MSP and said some people were going to be driving fast on some backroad, they would laugh and tell you they are busy. It just really isn't a big concern for them. An organized street race in a populated area, maybe. They know people bomb backroads, and they don't care, hell most of them do it too.

Your PD aren't you? I don't want to drag you in where you don't want to be, but be honest, I know you don't have the best driving habits all the time. By the way which department are you? Portland?

Lawdawg is alawyer.

^ I don't disagree with this either. I guess what I said earlier may have seemed a little naive. I am posting from work and didn't fully read every post. I assume that is why STIxxx has "No Takers". Talking about "planning" something dangerous on a forum before hand is a sure fire way to find trouble if you end up doing something illegal. I might play with my car a little from time to time, but if I am riding with other cars around I behave myself. It might be fun but you never know when a cruiser could be just around the corner and what seemed like innocent fun is now a street racing charge, your in jail, and your cars are impounded, or worse yet, crushed. Of course I have been known to hit the S-Turns of different roads rather fast but that is a spur of the moment decision durring my daily driving, not planned. I have my share of speeding tickets, but not since I bought my rex. If you are going to do something like driving fast on a curving road, do it one car at a time. That way it

Bear Notch road is, IMO, the nicest "rally" road I've been on in years.I ran it in 50f weather yesterday in triple-digits, safely, twice.

A Downside: The LONG (guard rail-less!) drop in to the forest below.
afraid you wouldn't know a "rally" road if it bit you on the arse, if that little stretch of TARMAC is all it takes to turn you on.

and umm last I knew triple digits is not legal anywhere in NH

wanna drive triple digits on a REAL "rally" road. let's see you try that on Jefferson Notch Road. don't worry no ravines there to kick your arse, just trees inches from your car!

Oh goody, now the insults start.

If you can't win an argument on merit, then go Personal.

Nice strategy, back in grade school.
