Oh goody, now the insults start. If you can't win an argument on merit, then go Personal.

Nice strategy, back in grade school.

Whatever...

This thread has some amazing displays of amusing behavior and commentary.
no argument to win:confused:

just stating the obvious, captain

The only thing amusing in here has been you.

"Triple-digits" and "safely" have no business being in the same sentence when talking about a public road. There's no such thing. What happens when you're enjoying your madd fast triple-digit speeds and you come across a car broken down in the middle of the road around a corner.

You're going to get someone killed my friend...

This thread is getting a little out of control. Most people on here have driven at speeds that would not be considered safe, that is not what we are/should be debating, it is the issue of an organized event.

I agree that it is not fair to put other drivers in danger, and an organized event with "spotters" on either side of the road is going to give everyone a false sense of security. Not to mention even if we can guarantee that no one is on the road, I would feel pretty bad if I played part in someone getting hurt/car totaled because they pushed it too far.

I am not picking sides here, I see where Stixx is coming from and I see where others are coming from. Lets all agree to disagree.

Thanks, we're all clear as to where you stand, kat.

Btw, rally takes place on many different surfaces.

(See: World Rally Championships on tv, if there's any confusion on this issue.)

I prefer Tarmac to dirt, my car is set up accordingly.

Tein Flex' with a 2" drop and 245/40/18s are not a dirt setup.

If I wanted to play in the sand, I'd buy a beater, and drive it to death on the gravel for fun.

I'm putting together my STi with time attack and show in mind, & gravel simply isn't in the cards.

That, my dear lady, is not "wrong", just different.

This was all about a simple drive, and a handful of you have managed to turn it into some sort of Morality Play.

It's absolutely ridiculous, but it gives interesting insight into how some people really think.

well our esteemed Mr stiXXX sure kicked a beehive with this one...why is he surprised at getting stung?

I admittedly confused Bear Notch Road with Hurricane Mtn in my earlier post, but that does not make his idea any less harebrained.

posting vids of triple digit speeds on a public forum...go kick another beehive, Batman!

PS--agreed, Bear Notch is pretty tame as "rally roads" go, I'd be glad to give him a ride on my newly discovered fave Beaver Pond Road out in the sticks west of Lincoln any day. Gravel road with one way in/out, no camps or cross roads, easy to control access, and top speeds of maybe 65...but hoo baby, hang the fark ON!

That would make you....an assh*le.

Call it what you like, I call it snitching.

Very nice, that really shows character.

Call it whatever you like. Everyones definition of charater is different. Do you define character the same way felons do?

I call it being a responsible, concerned citizen and not wanting inappropriate behavior publicized and promoted. MainelySubarus is not the place for that.

If I ever tell everyone about a time and place that I am going to be breaking the law, feel free to alert the authorities. OT. If we were planning a murder, just being in the same room and not telling the cops could be charged as conspiracy to commit murder. There just doesn't happen to be conspiracy to commit vehicular manslaughter.

Or suicide. I might have hit high speeds on that road durring the group drive by slowing a little between corners then romping on the throttle. Even that was a little hairy in the stock 09. When I say high speeds, I don't mean anything near triple digits, even though I am sure the car would do it. I just wanted to feel some lateral Gs.

We all did exactly what stixxx is proposing on the group drive. I know many of us hit triple digits and that was a "planned" event. I would be down for a bear notch run but im just not sure my car is up for it at the moment. Between my tires and tune something bad might result.

I left subaru tuners of maine because there was way to many herbs trying to tell me how I can and cant drive and what I can and cannot say. Maybe clearly advertising where and when you are going to speed isn't the way to go but who cares ...... seriously. a lot of people on here like to get there panties in a bunch because it makes them feel like they have some authority by policing the internets for those doing wrong. There is so much drama over the most retarded things on here sometime.

I dont wish anyone to do anything that will most deffinetly result in someone getting injured or even worse but what stixxx is planning I believe is as harmless as our beloved group drive was.

i know a road that will scare the **** out of people at 55mph, no triple digits needed.

Nigel...this road makes Beaver Pond Road seem boring.

If it makes you feel any better. I am going to meet up with a friend later tonight and there is a very strong possibility that we are going to go beat the snot out of his 2002 OBS either on a dirtroad or in a sandpit somewhere near kingfield.

And your right, this is rediculous. We all own subies, we all beat the **** out of them. I was just getting worried that someone might read things I said and think I was condoning "Street Racing". That is something I want to strongly avoid. However, I do enjoy "spirited" driving. I have also done things that I would not post on this site specifically because I don't wanna get flamed for it, and I know it was probably stupid.

I regret some things that I post, but once they are up, people have seen them, why bother editing to try and cover it up. That being said, on the group drive we had radios and the people in front could tell everyone else about any upcomming hazzards. I felt perfectly safe durring the group drive. Nothing that anyone says in here is going to make me not want to be friendly with them at a meet. But I can also see that we would not want an innocent post on a public forum to be used as evidence of wrong doing which could potentially reflect negitively on the club. Finally, like mommy and daddy always said.... DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO!!!! RAOTFLMAO!!!!

A rose is still a rose, even if somebody on the internet says it's a canary. Say something or brag about something that other people don't agree with, be prepaired to defend yourself or just ignore them. If you can't defend your actions, don't say it. Nobody can keep you from doing it.

I don't go on group drives. No matter what the plan may be, it always turns into a race. I am not interested in being part of that type of situation, so I don't go. I don't say they shouldn't be organized, other people enjoy them so have fun. But I truely don't hope that a large group of performance subarus get stopped by the police on a drive. We don't need to give them any more reason to target us.

Thanks, Nate.

And I'm not planning anything, any more.

Why bother?

I'd like to thank the weenie patrol for "saving my and everyone else's life" that didn't go on my (clearly) homicidally planned, triple-digit Time Attack, through the Urban Streets of Bumphuck, Egypt.

This thread can, and should, be closed, it's All Done.

I learned a lot on this thread, thanks, all.

Oh, and Nigel, that wasn't me driving at " triple-digit speeds", it was a hitch-hiker... against my will.

all for the best i imagine...

I would hate to see a good name like Evergreen Subaru being attached to a "fun run" of this nature.

do this in PM's and every one stays happy. you know the interested parties...

Ok, ive been watching this from the beginning. I guess its come to a head, and its all over now.

As to us closing it "a long time ago" Why? Just for the record, neither Evergreen Subaru, nor Mainely Subarus have there name on this event. that's why we have an events section that only mods and admins can start threads in. We cant tell anyone what they can and cant do on their own time, although we dont condone breaking the law. If someone want to go drive off a cliff, and he talks to people into going with him. Its on them, not us. Mainely Subarus provides the method for people to talk, but we dont put the words in peoples mouth.

This has gone far enough.
