I disabled the steam news window but I didn't notice the time-limit either.

 
figured i'd check in here. i'm steadily getting better. i won my first FFA match ever 3 days ago. went 30-6 on invasion. i don't necessarily want to say i "camp" but people's definitions are so different. i basically dominate a certain area and cover my back with claymores. i run with 5/7/9 kill streaks. basically if i can get my predator, i can get my pavelow. on maps i'm especially good at putting streaks together i'll go 5/7/11. this morning i found we hadn't hit the 10 kills without a death challenge, so i played safe and ended up going 14-0 in karachi. i would have DOMINATED if someone hadn't had a javelin; my harrier got shot down immediately and i got like 1 kill with my pavelow before it went down.

overall i still LOVE this game and i'm getting a ps3 when i move in july. phil you can expect to get a friending from me

Well, had my best game ever the other day. 29 kills, longest kill streak was 11. Team Def Match Express on Estate. Got to use my first AC130 ever near the end of the game but didn't get any kills with it. Not even sure I know how to use it. . So yeah, I suck. I never get a kill streak longer than maybe 6, usually only 4 or 5 and UAVs all the time. Frequently I get top scorer of 10 or 12, but usually I'm mid-pack or top 3, never a consistent performer. Cant figure out how to totally dominate (except that one game). And the kill streaks really elude me. I've got them all unlocked again, just can't get beyond the Harrier strikes.

 
^I have the same problem, can't seem to ever get past 6-7 kill streak. I've started to play mostly just demolition. You get shot in the back much less

... all of the random spawning in TDM gets me so frustrated.

 
I did it again. Same map. Shoot, move a little, hide, shoot, move, hide. Same three dudes kept coming back for more inski beat-down. "AC130 GUNSHIP ABOVE!" I get pretty excited when I hear that and I've got the helm. Pretty much get a pounding on all the other maps except Terminal and Highrise I can survive beyond one or two kills and have fun.

 
you need to play very defensively to get high killstreaks. psuedo-camping in some situations.if you want to hit killstreaks, the best set would be 5/7/9. predator should get you a kill, possibly 2 on demo or TD. that should easily bring you your harrier, which should bring you your pavelow.

 
^See that's my problem, I can't play defensively. I'm always the first to die because I can't ever sit still. I have no patience

Camping. Kills are the name of the game in td. People have an issue with camping, but theres nothing that says you can't and the game design does nothing to not support it. Its just another technique, so why not camp. I'll start trying to camp, but not on Estate. People think that's a battle for the house and my advantage seems to be circling around eliminating the campers in the house and the snipers perched in their favorite spots opposite of the house.

5/7/9 sounds good, as well as Pred/Harr/Pavelow. I had been using the Sentry but yeah, I get killed getting that into position.

Good stuff, some of my friends who just graduated have gotten back into WoW, so this video has been played many times in the past two weeks.

sentry guns are awesome in the 4% of the time they work. I'd rather not have to get the package, then get the thing into place and just get an instant kill with predator. predator is 1 kill like 90% of the time, 2 kills on TD like 15% of the time. too hard to pass that up.

the problem with camping as i see it (and feel free to bash my position because i've been playing fps for like....4 months now) is that people don't have a perfect definition of what camping is. as i see it, camping is sitting in a corner and waiting to kill the small number of people that happen to run by. i don't see why owning the top floor of the house on estate is camping. I set claymores at the top of the stairs, and alternate from the front window to the back, picking people off as they run around. it's more than camping; that's just solidifying a power position. this game is, for better or worse, designed to favor that strategy.

 
MWF2 favors camping and in objective based game types it is required. With choke points and other things being so prevalent it's not surprising. The definition of "camping" is argued on, but regardless, people on the internet will cry and whine about anything. I've been complained about by pubs when I was using only a deagle FFS.

If you're not into camping there's always Halo I guess.

Map positioning is HUGE, regardless of gametype. A good understanding of map flow and typical gamer behavior goes a LONG way in game play.
