Detailing job I did!

It rides very nice! There is a giant touchscreen for all the vehicle systems/hvac/media. Thing is fast as hell too! Very shiny paint. One of the shiniest I've seen. Kinda a deep blue color.

OP will chime, but i would venture to say pad/product combo will be more important that the brand DA used. Most DA's (Portercable, Meg's, Flex, Griott's, HF, 3D etc...) are overall the same for the sake of the Detail Hobbyist.

Porter Cable 7346SP

Also what Jojo said. I like Meg's Ultimate compound and polish. It works for me. There are many other pads/products there. I would check out auto geek. They have a ton of info on all their products plus a very large and active forum.

Ok I was thinking of getting the meguiars buffer. I use nothing but meguiars I bought their new product the wax for white cars and light colored car's. But I will be looking at the port and cable buffer.

The PC 7424 are the cheapest of all the DA's. pretty much standard for beginners and enthusiasts.
well actually... technically... PC is not the 'cheapest' per se. It may be the cheapest of all the brands that have been on the market for a while, yes... Is it a good choice? most definitely.
BUT Tthere are 2 other options (technically 1 but sold by 2 different merchants):

Harbor Freight and 3D/HD company both manufacture essentially the same unit DA (manufactured overseas) that you can get for around $50 (just the unit). Harbor Freight has the in store warranty and availability to pick it in store ( which is nice). but you have to buy all the other pads etc (http://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/polishers/6-variable-speed-dual-action-polisher-69924.html).

3D/HD has the same DA unit and has it bundled with 3 pads and their HD speed pdct for $100 (minus shipping). Essentially a starter kit for 100 bucks.

I just bought the HD package based on the forum I belong too (autopia) and the use i'll make of it. I was going to get the PCXP, but i couldn't justify spending the $200+ it would cost me to get the PCXP package through autogeek. An attractive offer, but just not what I needed. The HD kit gives me what I need to begin with and i'll be using B&S pads for the DA (http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=6340&idcategory=299).

I can't say how well the HD works (there are plenty of testimonials online for that), as i haven't had a garage and so waiting on good weather to start giving my subaru some needed TLC. I'm also eager to try HD speed as an AIO pdct on our soft subbie paints! SHould be easy to apply/wipe for good results with a polishing pad or med cutting pad...

Just so that you know all of what is out there!

Good luck!
