Home invasion

wow inski.... this sucks. glad to hear you and the fam are ok. things could have gone ina way different direction had you stumbled upon them in the act. glad you just scared them away.

(to me) seems like these guys must be local to you. cant imagine they were coming from too far away. do yourself a favor and have a bunch of us over for a couple weekends in a row for some shooting days. once they hear you making all kinds of noise, they will know you have guns around. i bet they wont be coming back anytime soon.

Glad your Ok, I know how you feel. I had my four-wheeler stolen out of my garage while I was sleeping. It was like 40 feet from where I was sleeping. Never heard a thing. They're lucky I didn't. I DO have guns.

get a pistol grip shotgun mossberg cruiser is about $300... it works. I keep a gun under my pillow next to my bed and in my spare room hidden... if someone comes in my house I will splatter them in as many pieces as I can. ASK Nate about my home safety training... lol.

Seriously it sounds crazy but keep your doors locked at all times, buy a gun or two... a .380 is not big enough if you cant shoot. Get something with some serious energy like a 12g (I use TAP ammo) or a 40sw. Also a laser and flashlight mounted on the gun make it easier to blind the target and aim in the spur of the moment. Learn some self defense and be ready to take down anyone. (I have had someone try to break in before... I cought them at my door, chased them with my shotgun and fired it over their head... they never came back.. you cant shoot someone who is running away

SET A TRAP OUTSIDE !With painfull things!

This is in Naples, near Casco line. We made a report over the phone and a deputy was suppose to come out today and never showed up. I have had a car stolen off the property, and a few times kids have broken into our cars and once someone got into the shed. My kids' bikes ridden off down the road and dumped. Nothing really consistent. Random stuff spread out over many years. Hillybilly redneck crackhead town I guess.

I have set up trip wires connected to soup cans before. I have waited for heathens in the bushes before. Kept the flood lights on for months at a time. Planted thorny bushes near windows, that didn't grow. The big male pup we used to have used to patrol the yard intermittently with me in the we hours. It all gets old and inconvenient. We lock the doors at night, but this time they came before we locked the doors. I have several years of self defense thru the military

I should notify my neighbors about whats going on. The guy next to me is a Korean War Vet. He'd probably be happy to hear some gun fire occasionally.

Yes good idea. The reason we're targeted is because we're set back from the road and friggin in the riggen is easy for the criminals. If I light up the driveway further down, maybe even with a sensor light and a alert thingy like that on your link would be helpful. The approach is usually the driveway because its easy, and quiet. So a simple dinger would let me know and the dogs know someone is on their way. Thanks Pedro. We were also discussing a cow bell hanging over the basement door. Whenever the door is opened it will jingle. More cow bell!

Call police.make report...get cheep survailience equipment..get seen.acting like madman going around neighborhood .
That is bizarre. early afternoon. Lately I shrugged off misplacing items, but now I am rethinking..someone could just walk up to my car and pick and choose and walk away...my forged weiss snips. I am attached to them. I LOVE THEM. someone stole my love!

I had mentioned a cheap webcam and an old computer, as cheap surveillance, even had a motion detector. Just hide the green light on top of the camera kicking on with tape. A whole laptop tucked away and a 12 foot usb cable, cheap, can do this...and then publically announce it set up. I have a near paranoid thought abouty mentioning belongings on the internet. My cars work recently, I share it on the web, less than 2 weeks later, it is attakced by hit and run. It is a bit too freakish to shrug off, add it to a factor of feeling secure and prevention.

Gun = FAIL.

There's an Oxycontin PROBLEM in Maine.

Also a Degenerate F'ing Kids Problem.

Even rurally, these things SUCK.

When I bought a house, I made sure I bought on a Very Private, dead-end road.

One way in, one way OUT.

That way you either belong here, or DON'T.

Carloads of young males... Don't.

iPhone post Fail.

Anyhow, I love guns but they have no use in home defense, and +90% of the time create more problems than they solve.

PREVENTION is the key.

sorry to hear about that man thank god no one was injured. i agree with stixxx that guns only help in very limited circumstances when you actually know somone is in the home when you are there. iknow alarms can be expensive on a monthly basis but have you ever thought about just gettign some adt signs to put in your yard and on your doors or windows. or you can even do soemthign like this

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CustomContentDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=11101&content=36818

chances are if they saw soemthign liek this they woudl think twice about tryign anything

have him go gran turino on their ass!!!

+1 for keeping a gun out of the equation. You can't take back shooting the wrong person, like lets say...one of your kids:(

Any dog is the best alarm system on the planet. One of my dogs woke us up when there was a fire in the connecting condo. We got out OK when there was only still smoke. It's the only reason I keep the little **** around.

Greg i respectively disagree with your"guns have no use in home defence"comment .They are the LAST defence:rules:The stats show when you make it imposible for a legal citizen to own a gun for home defense the crime rate goes up[look at washington dc] ....look at the crime rate in florida since they changed to a carry state...murder rate has droped.. a lot...Take Maine for example,we have higher
default_biggrin.png
person to gun ratio then most other states[aprox 3 per person] and still have what is considered "low gun crimes"....Bottem line, i AM WITH YOU ON VIOLENCE,way to much killing going on ,way to easy to pull a trigger.BUT what do you do to protect your family when its 2-3 against 1 and the police are 30 minutes away on a domestic case....Maybe im parinoid but ,better safe then sorry, ill keep my carry permit for when im out,and make sure i got a gun and ammo in the house for all members of the family ....Also if the local trash knows your armed they are less inclined to bother you or neighbor and move on .my 2 c Paul....

have some of us over to shoot, take our best target, post it down the driveway witha note that says " I dare you to try again", unless they are plain retarded, the thought that you might be ready and waiting with a gun should scare them off.....if not, i'll set up a tree stand and drink lots of coffee.......
