wow inski.... this sucks. glad to hear you and the fam are ok. things could have gone ina way different direction had you stumbled upon them in the act. glad you just scared them away.
(to me) seems like these guys must be local to you. cant imagine they were coming from too far away. do yourself a favor and have a bunch of us over for a couple weekends in a row for some shooting days. once they hear you making all kinds of noise, they will know you have guns around. i bet they wont be coming back anytime soon.

sorry to hear about this inski, but its good to hear that you are all ok.

i would also suggest the driveway sensor, and maybe space it back from the driveway as far as possible while still having the line of sight it needs to work (if it has 30ft of range to sense but your driveway is 10 ft wide, put the sensors 10 ft back in the woods). that way they're less likely to see them and avoid them, and you have a better chance of getting someone coming through the woods.

that thing has a 10 amp out put, see if you can rig that to a video camera setup that starts to record on power up or a camera that snaps a picture.

years ago my aunt put ADT security stickers in our house windows for us. she said the majority of the break in prevention comes from the stickers themselves.

a coworker also has a big 'protected by ruger' sticker with a outline of a handgun. you can probably get those cheap. maybe both?

Along with the driveway alarm, you know someone is there and possibly get a photo. Or if they come when you aren't there, you may have a photo of them.
