the sound check goes something like this: mircophone is set on a stand a certain distance and angle from the exhaust tip. car is run up to a certain rpm and back down a couple times, and the meter tells the tale.
how loud is 95dB? actually not that loud, probly not much louder than stock STI exhaust...which you can bet is engineered to pass.
Rally cars currently have to pass a 105 dB test, which I can tell you is effin loud! Heh, our LDR STI barely passes, and my 2.5RS with straight pipes hits 107 or 110 (and I don't mean mph). Several spectators have told me, "Jeez Dave, your car was the LOUDEST of the whole rally!" 8)
urlosn--why not have your current pipe tested before you tear it off and spend lots of $$$ for a new one? Heh, it just might pass...wouldn't that fry the officer's butt! Of course then he'd be after you for spitting on the sidewalk or swallowing your chewing gum.
