HP Predictions on DYNO day? On the Vtec Yo STI

Don't worry about your exhaust turning blue either

I just saw you on May St. You are going to get arrested with those headlights man....

yes the blue windshield washer fluid is made up of methanol my friend. Look it up on Nasioc.
I would think it would be much safer and consistent to use your own methanol/water mix. But, it is a true statement that Bluwrx02 has said!

Edit: forgot to add my prediction, I'm going to with 350.

A water/meth injection system would make it more safe to run more power, but at the same time, if it fails.. well... that is bad... :violent5:

that's why you set the meth kit up like i did in the beamer with a light to show it is working...you can also here the pump

Due to popular demand a basic meth setup by coolingmist is on its way. :headbang:

 Those are the new bulbs I put in and they are supposed to be less blue then the last ones. :laughing4: Pat might be using my old ones in the G soon.

But when I'm on the autocross course I'm not going to notice if the light isn't on...

Most kits should come with the light though. Some also come with a failsafe of some sort, but that does not always work.

Good stuff... I'm going to up my prediction to about 410 hp :-)

The AEM meth kit came with an LED that blips to solid as the meth kicks in. We converted the OEM "IC Sprayer" tank over to meth, and that way there's a "low level" dash light, as well.

As to "running out of meth", well, I buy extra gallons of "Boost Juice" and it hasn't been an issue yet, I just pay attention-as hard as that may be. Plus,I don't wail the hell out of my boost, so a gallon of meth lasts me a good long time.

I am planning on wailing the hell out of it so im just gona run windsheild fluid as its cheap and plenty. Im going to use the stock trunk tank as well. Did you put the pump in the tank with it or under the hood?

Well that was a project and a half! Me and ferrari started saturday morning at about 10 and stopped at about 5 because we both had birthday parties to attend. Sunday we gained the help of my friend steve and pat and went back at it until about 10pm. I worked monday and when I got out we worked on it until 4am tuesday morning i got home at 5

Do we have results yet??

Sorry I got interupted so I didnt get to finish the last post. I got home at five left my house at 10 got to DSG at 12 and made 330hp at 21psi matt the tuner had to stop because we ran into a up pipe leak and it became impossible to tune further. :BangHead: Matt says it has a lot more room to go he wants to tune it to about 25psi and I should be making about 350-370hp on their dyno which is mid 400's on most dyno's. So im going to fix that leak and go back for a quick tune session in a weak or two. Even at 330hp the car is a absolute monster. All of this thanks to jim and pat. If I didnt have them to fabricate oil lines at 2 in the morning then this car would never have made it to DSG on time.

Awesome news, big props for those guys helping you out and glad you made it down there

always get a chuckle out of how ppl can't just accept the dyno number for what it is...ONE indicator of how the car is doing. It's always something like < "whoa my car only made xxxhp on this crappy dyno, but that would be xxx+xxx on a better one..."

fact is, serious tuning almost ALWAYS reveals a weak point, like your DP leak. when we tuned the LDR rally car up at Neetronics in Toronto, we ended up with 305 whp/350-ish tq ...all with a 34 mm inlet restrictor. our weak point was a leaky oil return from turbo, lucky we didn't burn the place down! enough white smoke so that neighbors to the shop ran over to make sure thingz wuz OK.

sounds like you made great progress, now you have real-live adult levels of power and need to drive accordingly. ie drive with yer brains engaged, not the gonads :whip2:

this tune was maxed at 21 psi with turbo loosing spool due to the leak...

the afr was around 12 to 1 and the max timing near readline was only at 22deg.

I talked with the tuner and he wanted to lean the afr closer to 12.5 and add timing closer to 30deg. (more like 27deg the car has meth so these afr's and timing are safe). Also he wanted to add a few psi of boost closer to 25-26 psi and hopes to make 375 whp with a catted DP :sign5:

Trevor's rotated didnt make that down there so just think how fast this car is. :puke:

In all the car is fast as it is and still spools fast with the leak. Dent sport guys are some of the best and I had a great time hanging around talking about real cars.

Nates car is going to run high 11's with a new clutch and will do low 12's all day long. Its trap speed as is will be 115ish and should be around 120's when the tune is done.

oh and Nate drives like my mom, I have no idea why he always gets stopped. I cant beleve it. he never even tested his new power (I think the external gate was a surprise to him)

Oh also watch out for fishers when driving in auburn, they hate STI's

Running a stock ECU/timing and no alcohol, I'll hazard a guess of 316whp on 91oc, 334whp on 93oc.
I win the "guess the dyno pull" contest... off by 4whp ain't bad, considering I'm not a tech...

I'll be at Dent on Wednesday for a (flash) tune n' dyno, and I'm going to hazard I'll pull...hmmm...with 22-24# of boost on the FP Green, AP inlet, & with 70/30 meth (not washer fluid), the new Perrin rails, walboro, etc.

Let's say... +420whp.

I'll post a print out when it's all said and done.

Just about all the parts on the STi are brand-y new, so hopefully no equipment failure will hinder the process.

I saw slips from NED showing "stock" STi running late 12s, I'd think that mid-11s are easily possible, all things considered.

Yeah, I had a friend running stage 2 and water/meth and stock turbo/intercooler and he ran like 11.75 ish easily... so low to mid 11's shouldn't be a problem for you guys.

Good luck to you

and Good luck to vtec with the fixes, if its a monster now, after its all fixed up, it seems scary of what it might be.

Nice report Pat.. your right too, generally with a 50/50 mix you want to aim for right around 12.5:1 A/F ratio. DSG sounds awesome, maybe we should set up a Dyno day there some day, I'd love to be able to tweak and see how my car is doing on a dyno.
