HP Predictions on DYNO day? On the Vtec Yo STI

So my car made 353whp at about 22psi almost 350wtq i dont know the exact number. That was the first run and this is at 104 degrees :headbang:! The first run killed my up pipe gasket (again) just when he was getting started. I started losing exhaust pressure fast which killed my power. The guys at DSG called remflex to order some gaskets from them that might fix my problem. When he called aparently they have some "experimental" gaskets with a fire ring made for my problem that i get to test out before they go on sale. Matt predicts 380-390whp in a few weeks when we get it fixed and retuned. I also want to say once again that the guys at DSG are awesome because even after 2 hours of tuning on the dyno when I asked him how much he said dont even worry about it! Even with the current leak the car pulls like a freight train.

not sure if ur in the same situation, but i had a problem with the up-pipe gasket too.

except mine was mostly because of the bigger gap between the different brands of the headers and the up-pipe. it almost burnt right in half. i went to advanced autoparts and happend to find a catalytic converter gasket for 1975-83 ford's. worked perfect, its a lot thicker and its only a couple of bucks

might as well try it. if it doesn't work, u only lost like 3 bucks

like i said 1975-83 Ford catalytic coverter gasket

So yesterday was round 3 at DSG. It finally went smoothly, they put a new remflex gasket on and its still holding up well but god knows for how long. After we were all said and done he had fixed my drivabilty issues for the most part and the car made a whoping 390whp and 396wtq at 24psi. The only reason I didnt break 400 was because I was maxing out my 65mm maf and now I am kicking myself for selling that 70mm intake. The injectors and turbo still had plenty of room to go.

Nice.

I'm still having CEL issues, I'll be back down at Dent next week so they can tighten that up, and also switch to aremflex gasket, myself. (Same issue.) I'm also switching to a manual boost controller, the SARD unit's spiking between 22-24#....with that settled, they told me to expect a re-dyno'd 360hp/400tq.

Does this EVER end? LOL!

I think I killed something my car is only hitting about 16psi and it makes a sound almost like a baseball card in bicycle spokes but its very faint and only at low boost. Blow turbo?....... engine? I haven't had time to investigate further. Yes it is a never ending battle :dontknow: Hopefully its the engine cause i was shopping for a new shortblock anyways. Im checking out raw performance(axis) and group s maybe cosworth but we shall see.

Yo,

My block's about shot to piss, too.

Am waiting on Dent to tell me if it's "officially" f'd or not,but all things considered, I'll bet it's right proper pissed.

Alex at Dent quoted me $2500 for an Axis block w CP forged pistons, plus $2500 for install. Add a new head with titanium springs, etc and that's prolly' eight grand, walkin' out the door.

The upside?

More boost=more HP....

The downside?

So far with a new tranny and turbo, I'm +$11K down.

Ugh.

I'll look into that, thanks, man.

^%$^%$&^$$!!!! The ONLY part in my STi that ain't spankin' new...the friggin' BLOCK....

Izzit' Monday?

LOL!

That's Tuning.
