Kati's '98 Forester S

got the header on jason!?
No, nothing has been done to any car because I have no time. And I need a hand on some stuff
Too good for our money?

I was going to go to portland tint, but 300 seems steep. Any other suggestions?

Mabey ill just make another thread for the topic
I really don't know. Jun is good price wise though.
Bring it over here some day for the axle. We can put it in the garage, turn the heater on, and not freeze. I should have all the tools except a 32mm (?) socket for the axle nut. I only have the 36mm EA one.
If I get some time, I will take you up on that. And I have the axle nut socket

Sounds good. Whenever works. If the Legacy is in there we just roll it out, and push it back in again. That's not really a big deal since all I'm dicking with is the engine. There shouldn't be any reason for it not to roll.

I don't have time. That is the only thing really stopping me. I have my daughter every weekend and work all week. And it's dark when I get home. I have done plenty out here. If I could plan for time in a garage though, it would be easier, then I wouldn't have to worry if the weather was bad on the day I had it all planned.

The garage has lights in it... so it works in the dark too! haha.

But I don't have a drop light of any kind, I have a little flashlight if I really need to see something under the car... For the most part I know where every bolt is so I can do it with my eyes closed.

So I took the day off to get a bunch of stuff done because the twins could be here any day now. So I went a bought a floor jack, and replaced the front axle, only to find that the "good used" one I put in is worse than the one I took out. Instead of just making noise while turning, this one makes noise driving straight down the road. I even took it back out to make sure it was installed properly because the new one came with axle stub to go in the tranny because someone had messed up the pin. So I wanted to make sure I had it seated in the tranny, and it is. I can say I'm not real happy right now. I didn't need to have to do this twice with already limited time to get raisin done.

I got it used from someone on another forum. I honestly don't think he sold it to me knowing it was bad. Just happened that way.....of course

Also found that the oil cooler is leaking pretty badly. And now that I know it has an oil cooler, that means the headers may not fit. Sucks to remove it, bit it could get rid of the leak, and make the headers fit.

All those came with oil coolers, I've wanted to get one and all the supporting pipes for a while. Is it leaking coolant or oil? usually it's justa bad seal.

Leaking oil. But like I said, I don't think the headers will fit with it, but I know others have put them on. I guess there is only one way to find out.

Take it out then. Just put a nipple to connect the coolant hoses.

IS there THAT much of a need for it on that motor? I mean, I haven't seen them on many N/A's.

Not really. They put it on there assuming the forester would be used for towing stuff, being beaten around on dirt roads, etc.

Although, the DOHC is known for having bottom end issues, so maybe they should all have had one. Dunno.

Our 99 outback has 170k and is fine. No cooler on there.

My Legacy engine made it to around 230k before the HGs blew again..
