yeah and I now have 60 mile commutes each way instead of my usual 10. before this summer it was only 2 miles round trip each day. I loved working right in town. I'd leave 5 min before the hour, hit heavy traffic and catch the light at exactly the WRONG time and still be early! haha Now.. I left an hour and a half before I had to be here, tried to keep at a safe speed but stay the hell in front of that stupid ass tractor trailer truck driver who wanted to pass everyone and cause a whiteout situation for everyone he passed.. I was still 10 min early though! f u slippery roads! I have a subaru and it goes great.

On that note, I should loosen up my rear swaybar though. My car is a little too ass happy with it cranked up tight. I'll do that this week.

So I just had a genius idea. Instead of lifting my car, why don't I drop my car and put a lip on it. Then it would be a MUCH more effective snow plow!

Warning: More hypothetical car mods from Nate, don't flame for impracticality and school-kid budget.

I've started digging the lowered look a bit more. Sure, I would love to have a lifted car, but I would also love to cruise around with only a few inches between my bumper and the ground. In the perfect world, I would have 10 Imprezas as well as 20 other random cars that I could just mod to whatever I want.

Warning: overly sensitive kid^^^^^

Picking up a cheap used STI exhaust or some used springs to lower your car is a cool way to make your car your own on a budget. Those might be good things for you to start with to get a feel for what some of the hidden costs of modding can be. You might get some help to install the springs, but its going to cost you a trip to EG for an alignment, and some pizza money. You can pick up an exhaust for cheap, but it will cost you to have someone rotate the flange so it will bolt up.

Sometimes its hard to know from start to finish what things really cost. You always need to factor in some extra cost for the bolts you break, or gaskets you need, etc.

Now lower that Pig!

All I have to say is, in Maine ... be careful.

How about ... You leave it at the stock height!!
I actually think stock height is perfect. I wasn't asking what I should do, but what people would prefer to have. I guess I should have specified.

In the winter I want an extra inch or 2, in the summer I could lose an inch. So blah, I'll just leave it stock and boring.

On my project car, I have coilovers on it. I plan to also drive it during the winter and do some winter rallycross, so I have some wrx struts/springs to give her a lift for that. I like both and if I knew how to do my own alignments, I might just swap every week.

We're in Maine. The roads suck. Stock height works for me. Hell, the road near my house I managed to scrape the stock plastic "skid" piece. No real need for me to lift either.

Any lower then I am now would just not work on these Maine roads. In the summer with my V1 lip on, I have to be extremely careful where I'm driving. I've scraped it sooo many times... don't know how it's still in one piece.
