Matts First Gen SS

Who builds a race car and then says I wish I got better gas mileage. 4.44 is something that crossed my mind.

Bought an exedy pro clutch kit so that should be here sometime next week. Like to put it on next Saturday at the shop. Gotta see if I can find a decent flywheel or just machine the old legacy flywheel. It'll get me by until I figure out a permanent trans/rear diff option. Go faster first.....

It's here!!! This goes in Saturday at work. I actually miss driving this thing!! She's so sad sitting there.

What a cluster f%£$.... Everything was coming apart fine until I got under neath her. All the trans bolts came out no problem... All 4

The biggest problem was that someone had been in there previously and snapped off a trans crossmember bolt so they cut a small hole in my body and popped in a nut. Obviously when I went to pull it out it just spun so that sucked and the left side axle pin didn't come out and ate a tool of mine. Biggest problem was the trans jack crapped out when it was going back in. Rob and I had to physically lift the trans into place. Suckdddddd.

Ohhhh shiny.

Went back together well and I needed to adjust it under the dash so it would pick up properly. 700 miles until she's broken in so I'm taking it easy. Missed this old thing

I bench pressed the trans into my GL by myself, I can totally feel the pain. It sucks something wicked.

We ended up pulling the motor to do mine, didn't want to deal with a lowered car and re-aligning the trans, with poor jacking equipment. The most nerve wracking part was making sure not to bend any of the fingers on the pressure plate. Mike also helped bail me out yet again, thanks dude.

I took it to work so obviously used the lifts. The trans jack crapping out made this difficult

Sti front lip came in Saturday. Since I ripped the old one at a rally cross event I figured I'd get one again. Just chop a bit off the ends and bolt it up. Fits perfect.

Final piece of the engine build has arrived. Ej25d Dohc engine. I just need the heads and a few other bits but basically it. I'll prob run rally cross with it and then start the tear down.

Removing this beast from the truck without a engine hoist was fun. Gotta get one of those now. Slid it down some atv ramps and then I tossed it up on three jack stands. I'll bring home the required tools and start tearing this down for all the required bits. Anyone need a 4.11 5 spd let me know. Came with the motor. I don't need it.

motors out of a forester i was told... chris if you want it make an offer  im not looking to get rich. engine block is headed to bratmans for a rear lip

Started the tear down. Actually went really well for an engine that's been sitting for awhile. Covered in acorns! The only issue I had was the egr tube was seized in the head and intake. I just cut the tube and I'll get it out later and plug the holes.

Setting the timing and admiring the crud

Well went out and played in the snow last night. Needless to say it was a poor decision or a ticking time bomb that got escalated. Tranny decided first gear was useless and said get outta here. Still drives but sounds like a space ship in first. Lovely.

Gotta plan a new trans idea.

Pulled the cams and heads off this morning. Engine looks really clean and apparently just had the head gaskets done not to long ago. Visible cross hatching on the cylinder walls. I'll clean up the heads and whatnot and I need to drill and tap the exhaust studs as they are broken off.
