My plans for this summer! G35 will die

Ok so after driving a slow g35 for the last few months I need a new project.

here it is!!!!

I am planning on as soon as my jeep sells to swap a 2jz gte twin turbo supra motor into my G35. I really am going to.

Iam going to sell the jeep and sell the g35 motor tranny and ecu to fund it (giving me 4-5k)

my plan is-

2jz gte with stock ecu and turbos

boost to max

fmic

catless to stock g35 exhaust

and auto 2jz tranny (the 6speed is just insaine its 5-6k the motor and auto are only 2500)

the other option is a nissan skyline rb25 or rb26 with rb25 5spd *since the 26 is awd and wont fit*. both are the same price range (the rb might be a better fit and make more sense)

goal is a reliable 450-500 whp on stock twins and keep it quiet. I want it to look entirely stock other then the wheels being painted from the outside.

the budget is 3000 for the motor swap and 1500 in upgrades(fmic, injectors, fuel, tune, etc) this will be done at my home or at my friends race shop.

the rb26dett mates to the rb25det gts rwd tranny, so the awd thing isn't a problem if you want to go that route.

are either of these motors going to fit considering they're 6 cyl long and you have a motor that's 3 cyl long?

why not just TT the vq35?

ps. you'll never hit that power goal on stock turbos. my old roommate only hit 360whp with more mods than you listed. and 6spd.

i agree. ryan managed 430whp on stock twins, and that was with a lot of other mods...

my friend has a black on black leather, black wheels, black tint G35 and its a rocket ship. i realize an boosted AWD will smoke it but why get rid of it? quality car my friend

Vinny put down around 450whp on stocks at f1dyno (they soon blew, street map was sub 400. ) the first time before the pt68 swap . The g35 auto tranny can only handle 400whp or less and the sock internals can only do that too. I want something different. and eventually want over 600whp. this summer swap and make maybe 400-450 and then go single turbo next year (like a pt70 or something good for about 650-700whp or so)

I think the best option is the rb26 with rb25 tranny the 2jz would be an auto. It will fit there is a lot of room. I guess people also swap sr20's but I dont think ill go that way. I gotta read up and see. I have heard the rb20 can rev very high so that too might be an option and make decent power. I have always wanted a supra but that swap sounds like more work then needed. If i can find a rb26 with no tranny and a rb25 tranny with no motor this will be what i do.

I dont see the point to turboing the vq and only making 400whp and blowing my tranny at the cost of 4000 or more when i can swap and have a 5spd and more power for the same money.

Not to mention the value of my car will be very high after that. I will prob do a cage since iam going to want to Drift it and do time attacks.

a serious rb26 swap into a g35... mines not gonna be at this fund level.

Cool plans, Pat, it'll be interesting to see how they sort out over the summer.

Watch out, don't talk about the budget too much, you might look "arrogant".

I gotta do more research on the rb's since I dont know a lot about them.
I have a little experience with them, and I have a good friend that's swapped on into a 240 and blown it up. The RB series IMO are seriously overrated, and I'm sure he'll agree.

With that said besides how much money you want to spend (which is a really small budget for something like this). I haven't seen what your real goals for this car are. Is it just some dyno number you're trying to achieve? Do you want the car to 1/4 mile well? What do you intend to do with this car, and what would make you look back at it being a successful project in the future?

Without goals all you've got are PLANZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ (right dallas ;D)

Sounds like fun though, and i can get you the contact info on my friend with the RB if you want.

i would say the 2jz is out. that's more fitment and engine management and wireing then its probaly worth. puting engines from difrent make cars is never easy.

id' say a skyline engine would be the best.

but then isn't your car a skyline in japan??? why not put the jdm engine of your car into it? i don't know much about them to be honest i'd have to do some research but i can't imagine they would but the skyline badge on something that would suck.

now i know your a power freek so you wont take this seriously, but. power isn't everything in drifting. having the suspention sorted out to be nice a neutral and the power nice a smooth is probaly more important. ever watch a ae86 go against a FD or something? same idea.

best of luck!! interested to see what you come up with for engine choices

A decent FMIC for a G35 is in the $1200-$1500 area, and the turbo/fuel pump/rails/injectors are another $2000+,then add an ECU-the AEM is about $1300. Then, add about ten hours of labor, and tuning/dyno time.

I think a $5K budget might be a bit of a long shot, but it'll be real interesting to see how it goes for you.

If you get a 1JayZ, you might want to add Nas, I hear they compliment each other's harmonies.

are you sure the gts tranny will hold the modified gtr power? it may not be the indestructible unit the gtr one is....

I have a source in nh with an rb25det with tranny ecu and wiring for $2500. An fmic will cost me $300 with pipes, exhaust is being made in the next week or two with cutbends and straight pipes ($150), I have spare fuel pumps walbro 255's, Injectors are about $250 and a ecu reflash is free (or find a used utec). The turbo will be an ebay one as i have run them and they work great and the manifold is $150, but i do have a gt38r if need be (it might be needed at this point but the hotside is huge on it).

I have talked with some builders recently (as in a few mins ago) and was told 6k to turbo my g35's stock motor if i do the work.

STIXXX I dont believe in namebrands and will never run them on any car. I would rather test things out and have them fail.
