Well, Ebay turbos and body kits are a certain way to dissatisfaction, imo. "Testing out" cheap-ass Chinese, lead-coated, crappy alloy turbos seems like a waste of resources, unless you replace them just for shits n' giggles and like blowing them up. For a 1JZ, imo the obvious choice is HKS. As to injectors, I don't see how you can get a decent, (more importantly, correct) non-EBay set for under $400. Too much boola on Ebay, lots of crappy, child-labor-made dreck. Nowadays, when I buy, I always buy gear that lasts. JDM manufacturers like HKS, Mines and GReddy put mad hours into real race-bred R&D, and the results show it. Rebuilding, with new, improved parts, from scratch, instead of "getting by" or buying questionable "slightly used" parts, is the way I choose to do it, and it's not left me on the side of the road, as of yet. To each his own, I'm dyin' to see how it turns out for you!
I should do a thread about how the kid that owned this STI before me pounded the snot out of it so hard that I had to replace the tranny at 45K at a cost of $6500, and how it needed $1000s in parts just after the warranty expired. Nah,
Sure thing, they have been taken to up wards of 550 ft lbs to the wheels. I'm sure there are people who have run way more through them, but that's the only number I've seen on a graph from a heavily driven 240.are you sure the gts tranny will hold the modified gtr power? it may not be the indestructible unit the gtr one is....
Is it a series I or II rb25? Either way, i'd jump on it if you want to go that route. I paid 1999.00 for mine and I drove to Montreal to pick it out. I'd also get a greddy style intake plenum for it. I modified the stock one so that i could run my intercooler pipes more efficiently. The factory plenum is super annoying... And you can definitely do a front mount for less than 300 if you're going to ebay it. I got my pipes, silicone couplers, and t-bolts from ebay and it ran me 110 shipped and I spent 160 on my intercooler (not on ebay, so I'm sure you could get something for even cheaper). Where are you getting a free reflash?? I think with the above mentioned parts and pieces you could be on your way to 400+ hp (depending on turbo injectors and tune) with a rb25. Its rumored that you can make 300 to the wheels with a front mount, 3" exhaust and 10 psi on the stock turbo. I haven't dyno'd my car yet to see if that's true. But I've seen others do it.I have a source in nh with an rb25det with tranny ecu and wiring for $2500. An fmic will cost me $300 with pipes, exhaust is being made in the next week or two with cutbends and straight pipes ($150), I have spare fuel pumps walbro 255's, Injectors are about $250 and a ecu reflash is free (or find a used utec). The turbo will be an ebay one as i have run them and they work great and the manifold is $150, but i do have a gt38r if need be (it might be needed at this point but the hotside is huge on it).
I have talked with some builders recently (as in a few mins ago) and was told 6k to turbo my g35's stock motor if i do the work.
hey joel... I have looked at the pricing and its at what I have... I dont know if Iam going to do the g caz its got way to many wiring problems when the swap comes into place... it will be good on the bmw tho. My car needs to be fast so this smmer i will either do this to the g or another bmw...I'd put a Titan V8 in and turbo that. Pick up a totalled Titian for $200, E-bay stuff for another $50 and WHAMMO! A nice reliable fast car for cheap....
As long as we're dreaming...
I was just messing with you. I don't have a clue how much that stuff costs.
Did i miss pics of the pink car??
yeah i know but I dont care either. Its a stupid law and by my choice doesn't affect mehe might be talking about the laws regarding swapping a motor from an older model year car into any other car.
