Nate's OBS: Out Front

unless your bumper is steel ( if outer, than no) don't try mounting lights to it. they wont be very sturdy, and you run the risk of craking stuff. as a rule I try not to permanently alter anything ont he outside of the car
I totally agree. I was thinking of this reason as well, and because of it I've been leaning more towards a bar.

But then I realized that I'm leaving this Friday, so I doubt I'll have time to make a bar. I'll just run this license plate one until I find a welder in Seattle

. Hopefully some classmates, and if any of you are on NASIOC, a dude named Koji may be willing to help (though he's a busy dude).

There has got to be some way to keep these bugs from mashing against my windshield...

"Only" getting 25-30MPG at speeds of 75-85mph.

And for those of you who were in chat when I complained about oil, it smelled funny because it was overfilled when I had the oil changed. It's all good now.

Only issues on this trip so far are a short 5th gear, and P0463: Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High Voltage. I think we put too much gas in one stop. The guage jumped around a bit, from full to empty, sitting at half, empty again, then 3/4 where it was supposed to be.

Cleared the code and all good.

Damn this thread is long...

If it's the kartboy shift stay bushing. Those are stupid easy to install. It's under the car, but it's one bolt. The old shift stay bushing makes a great dampener for a skid plate too

So I know its been a while, but I realized I'd never installed these and gave it a go. I got the bolt out, but I couldn't get the washer plate out of the way for the life of me. I don't/didn't have any way to remove the spring, and didn't want to get stuck with the spring unattached (I don't have a backup car out here). Next time I go see the car I'm going to attempt it again. Dan, any tips? Does that spring have to come out?

Also, I think I'm finally going to make a proper light bar. I'm tired of the driving lights hanging out so far.

Only thing that's gone wrong with the car since leaving Maine and putting 10k miles on it is that second gear and occasionally 4th will grind going in, even if I'm slow with it. I think its either the non-Subaru trans oil that I got put in in Maine or the short shifter. Is it worth fighting to put the stock shifter in or should I just go down the street to the Subaru dealer with a container to buy proper gear oil?

Also: a couple of highlights from the drive west:

And from since I've been out here. Had two "Wagon Meets" in Seattle and enjoying the cherry blossoms this spring:

It's probably hard to find these days after the forums updated a few times. But the battery thread is pretty epic

Don't lower it. Stock hight is perfectly fine. You won't gain anything from going lower other than ground clearance loss.

what prompted the move/drive out west? Are you planning on coming back? Sounds like a whole lot of fun.

So I got to run the car on stage 9/11/14 of OTR. It was awesome except for the blind turns. Also the fact that I shattered one of my driving lights... Luckily I met a super cool guy while working time control who's going to give me a set of PIAA pencil beams for cheap. I just have to make the drive to pick them up

I know they're too low, I just have no other way of mounting them. I'm not willing to drill through the bumper skin and beam, and I haven't had the time to buy metal stock to make a new bar since this summer when I didn't have the money.

Also, I was careful on stage. I slowed when I had to due to terrain and those aforementioned blind turns. It was super rocky for two sections, and for OTR they don't paint the big rocks like at NEFR.
