Apparently, AT&T reps are telling current AT&T customers to cancel their current contracts and sign up with new ones because - even after you pay the early termination fee - it's apparently $75 cheaper than paying the "upgrade fee."

That "loophole" has been around since the 3g came out. Here's how it shakes down...

If you're not eligible for the $199 pricing yet, you can still renew and get it for a lower cost ($399). We technically list the iPhone with no contract at $599, however there's many, many hoops to jump through to get it at that price.

If you cancel your line with a contract still, the early termination fee would be at most $175. It's prorated, but is dependant on how many months you have left. I don't have the exact terms here. So let's say your ETF is $150. You pay the $150, then the $199 for the new phone and you've saved $50 right?

Pretty cool till you realized you've lost your phone number, and then you pay the $36 activation fee for the new phone...

This deal isn't anything new, though I'm sure it'll get some press with the new one. It's also a very specific situation. Any questions just ask. The northeast region is known for having pretty knowledgable reps, so a lot of those stupid issues come from other parts in the country

Can anybody give me any reason to switch away from Verizon?

Like a really good deal or something

.

I kind of want an iPhone just to fiddle with. It would be cool to hack, or at the very least Jailbreak.

iPhone is the #1 reason to try ATT.
Hey mark what days are you working on that weekend. Like Sunday or something. I promissed my wife an Iphone for her B-day but she wanted to wait till the new one comes out. So I will come down there and we will get one off of you. She is availble for an upgrade on her contract if that helps any. I am going to get her the 16gb one.

Well the iphone itself is going to be the best reason to switch. I think once you have one and you start looking through the apps you will stay busy and entertained for quite awhile. There is no portable device out there that can match what an iphone has for potential. Just ask Carter what he though of verizon and the "storm".

If your serious about switching PM me and I will see what kind of deal we can work out.

I'm not really sure. I'm with a family plan on Verizon and my dad/brother just got new phones not too long ago, but I wanted to stick with mine (LG "The V" VX9800). What's the base plan with the new iPhones cost monthly?
