subaru using cheap paint?

but none of wich were purchased in the hopes of somethign different
I'm sorry but that has got to be the most dense thing you've posted.

Nate was trying to prove a point that basically "sh!t happens", it sucks big and it's unfair, but you learn to deal with it. It's called LIFE.

no those are all things that are unexpected in life wich you cant control. a brand new car wich you payed for you expect a certain level of quality for 26 thousand dollars. a porr quality product is not life its bad manafacturing

Either way, the hood has to be taken care of enough so that i can put on some clear shield, maybe the touch up paint will be enough, i wont know till i try and only after i talk to the dealer. clear shield will stop it from getting worse too... i just dont wanna see something under it that i have no control over once its done.

Kristof, you're right it should absolutely be a quality paint for how much money he paid for it. (why did you pay 26k for an impreza outback btw?)

but to Nate's point, SOA isn't doing anything about it, so he's going to have to deal with it one way or another. It sounds like he's (Nate) done his fair share of being the squeaky wheel already with his car so he knows the deal. I have a friend who also bought an 08 wrx brand new with many paint chipping problems, and it took him months upon months of *****ing to the dealer before anything was done, and they were still not happy about doing it when it was completed. It's still not any better.

If you're going to look past all the awesome things your Subie has to offer and lose it over the paint chipping, maybe you should consider selling it for something with better paint.

true every car i guess has its ups and downs honda you get reliability and great paint but no turbos and now awd every car has a trade off

Under Subaru's warranty, if there is a rust issue you are covered for 5 years/unlimited miles. It is called the Rust and Preforation warranty.

when i say 26 grand i mean after financing. car was 22 before. ive let vinnie know and he sounds concerned so something might happen...

Just got word that they are going to completely cover the paint repair on the hood. i am about as happy now as the day i drove the car off the lot!!! SoA does care for their customers...

I was wiping some winter-filth off my car when I was rain-xing my windows and I accidentally scuffed the clear coat with my finger nail...

There was no dirt underneath when it happened. I need a repaint

I was thinking just touch up the STM top half, and do bed-liner for the bottom half, to keep the outback style. I know Dan, but it just ticks me off so bad when I get new scrapes after school. I think the bedliner would be good, and most of the bad parts are on the bumpers.

so do the two tone thing, rhino line or roll on truck bed stuff the (gold?) on your car, and do the white either white again, or some color that won't show scratches well

Hahahaha you guys should see my car. Nate would you would have a heart attack if owned my car, if your worrying about taking the top coat off with your nails. Going up those Jeep trails with bushes everywhere does a number on the paint. I have huge scratches going down the length of my car.

I use to be super anal(haha I know I said anal) when it came to my paint. Any little bump, scratch I would freak out. Now I couldn't careless, I have way more fun using my Subaru now, they I did babying it. Plus, she looks way better covered in mud...

Kat's ol' RS was bedlined and it looked spiffy. Mr. i-wagon is right, just keep the twotone and do it on the cheap. Someone on here would probably help if you didn't want to take sandpaper to your car yourself

Also this, cars are more fun when you use them. I've got tons of pictures of my car doing sweet stuff over the years (I really need to make a gallery thread). Way more fun then just building a showcar and only driving to hannaford and and home only.

That's one of the reasons I want to do bed-liner over the bottom color (dark gray, not gold). It would be a lot tougher. I feel like I would screw up painting the top silver part though. I would forget to tape something off or forget to remove something (like the roof rails and the three plastic pieces between the rails).

glad to hear the issue is being addressed.

wonder if there's any hope they'll repaint the rockers on my wagon ?

oops sorry, forgot it's already sold
