The Eric Benson Memorial Dirt Drive - November 28th

i wish i could go, but i have guard weekend this weekend, and it's my gf's birthday next weekend and this month just doesn't look very promising for any additional drives for me, but you know i would be down for making the whole trek though!!!

i was partially kidding actually...

in fact i cannot get away this weekend either, and my daughters birthday is tomorrow, and there is just too much going on.

but imagine all those roads as wet dirt and mud. oh how awesomely awesome that would be.....

I'm down for a few weekends from now. Possibly a Sunday. I have no problem getting her dirty or damaging the bumper. New one from ray is almost ready to go on. No more cwest!!!!

so the drive raised 160 for the eric benson scholarship. the fund is going to be used as a yearly scholarship to a westbrook student perusing a science degree preferably in geo-chem, it is also used to help provide opportunities to high-schoolers in the music program. so hard the scholarship donated a upright base to the music program when they didnt have one before ( 5 kids are all ready waiting to learn how to play it.). so thank you again for coming on this drive to support children in maine and the memory of my brother.

I'm down for a few weekends from now.

I have all kinds of people that want to go... including my mom

How about the weekend of the 18th/19th?

i heated the plastic to try to reform it a bit and then fiberglassed the backside and a little bondo for form....itll look alright and im def. no body guy.....

so i have to ask why the money went to geo-chem, i dont even know what that is, is it something eric liked? I would of figured it would of went towards someone going to cmcc for automotives or something....

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Fozzie lives! HUGE thanks to Mikey Meyagi for swapping the motor and getting it running. He did a great job and quickly too!

Now I have to convince my wife that I won't break the car again if I go for another group ride...

yaay Mikey, congrats to all for Fozzy resuscitation

tell your wife you've learned about this cool thing called "third gear" and the next dirt drive is your chance to prove it works.

HaHa! If I break the car that badly again anytime soon I may not even get to "third base". She's been very patient with my Subaru escapades thus far.

So I guess the shifter also goes side to side not just forward and back? Sweet!

If what I have read is right, you probably just need to shift up, lol. My 2009 WRX does some wierd things sometimes. Basically ocasionally when I push it hard, say 4000 to 5000 RPM for 30 sec or so then I get this hot rubber or hot tires smell in the cab. Smells like someone left thier boots upside down next to a woodstove. No matter how much I look, I can find anything that looks like its getting hot under the hood and car keeps running great. I figure that it must be the exhaust manifold getting hot and heating up a nearby hose or it could just be the tires getting too much torque or something, it seems to happen a lot worse with the winter tires on and going uphill. Essentially, when I smell this, I shift up just in case.

I've clearly missed the boat on this event earlier this year... I didn't read all 19 pages, just the first few and the last... Any chance there will be another of these events happening again soon, or any TSD's that you guys know about? I'm hankering for an events :-P

There will eventually be another Bangor wonderland trip. We do dirty drives on here occasionally.

For rallyx and TSD's you have to roll with NER.org, as our Maine group Cumberland Motor Club hates anything that is fun.
