but for $700 that leaves a lot to go wrong.

Ton's of crap is wrong on my car that the dealer "forgot about" when they gave it a state inspection. Bad cat, bad battery (which we forgot to bring up in the "negotiations"), bad windshield, and a friend/mechanic found two minor oil leaks under the hood.

Dad's bringing it back to talk about repairs on Tues.

/rant, I'm going to cross-post this in my thread anyway

Hah, those are the wheels a kid at my school has on his VW Jetta GLI.

They'd look good if the car wasn't two-tone with red/white racing/pin stripes down the sides.

I feel like there's a premium on Subarus in the state of Maine. Great deal there on that '06.

Yeah, a subaru that is one or two years old costs just about the same as a new one's sticker price. that's why I bought mine new...and because I wanted that new car smell. The '06 looks like a good deal, but it has high milage for an '06, so maybe it evens out.

^Looks like a decent deal. It says it has some rust, but they all do. That is also a dual range!!

But do you really want a transmission from '88?
Ummm, if you knew what these were you probably wouldn't second guess it. They are very strong, and have a low range so the gearing is great!!!! They are being run behind many 2.2 Legacy motors without any issues.

It only has 122k on it. And it is in a running car, so you could go test it out before pulling it apart.

And what Jason said too.
