Tore it down as soon as soon I got it home as it was excessively oiled (Walther took care of that issue with extreme overkill). I remember my P99 wasn't oiled at all when I got it. After the first mag went through all screwey, I stripped it again, gave it a thorough cleaning, reoiled the necessary bits, and pit another mag through it. Same issues on the second mag, stripped it down and did it all again. Put it back together, went to fire another 8 rounds through it...first shot, slide never even moved. Had to manually pull it back, eject the shell, recock it, and fired it again...same thing, slide never even moved.did you tear it down and lube the hell out of it? I read about walther's lack of oil from the factory being an issue. Sounds about the same as yours.
