The distance to the strut doesn't matter much. I have had them just barely not touching and they don't hit, they are probably hitting on something else
hmm , well when it stops raining ill have to check.
thanks

They will come out. That's how most bolts are on these older cars in Maine. No need to give up. If you think those are bad, try working on even older Subarus!!! Just spray them and let them soak, you would be surprised!
Engine will come out. The engine to tranny bolts don't usually get too bad. It might take some hammering and banging to get the engine unstuck from the tranny, but it'll come.
And yea, if you want to see rusty, come check out my 89.
Yea, my 98 isn't rusty at all. I didn't have one stuck bolt getting the engine out. It's had meticulous care by loving previous owners.
My 89 isn't terrible either... Not one drivetrain part, or any part under the car is original besides maybe the engine crossmember...
Shouldn't be too bad, actually. The bolts should come out because they go through inside the car.the only rusty parts on my 98 is the rear subframe. looks like that's gunna be a pita to change too.

fattie.. whatchu dooin this weekend .. say... sat/ sun?? I could poss. make a trip up to see said subies and maybe turn a wrench or two
ok that's fine , just lmk.Hooking it back up is really easy, actually. Just label everything on the car. I use masking tape around the hoses so they go back on right. Top, middle, and bottom fuel hoses. Top and bottom heater core hoses, etc. There are three electrical connectors that are all bunched together to the engine, power and a harness wire to the alt, and one to the AC. That's it.
As for time... I just contracted a job (I was literally offered a job, and started right there on the spot). So I can't say for sure about time at this moment.
Everything on the motor only goes one way, pretty self explanatory. Even the fuel lines, follow them back, and they go in the order they are arranged, top to bottom.
