Uhhh ohhh, what happened to it? I guess I got lucky. I ran 65,000 miles of aggressive driving and Stage 2.
it just had tonsssss of little things wrong with it. i was able to trade out of it for the wrx without losing anything. so i couldn't refuse.

xt+studs= fun in the snow!!!

I pulled my plow guy out last year when he got stuck in my driveway:rolleyes: (4dr 2500 dodge)

We need to have someone make a date. Process the driving route. Im sure we could pull it off no problem it we just let people know a month or three in advance. Anyone feel free to throw dates out there or driving routes. Maybe carter or nailman might be able to set something up for a group drive in december.

Thanks

problem with setting up a "snow drive" three month in advance is: you just dont know if there will be any snow.

having one in december is a shot in the dark.

i go out snow driving with some friends almost every storm, but its a last minute thrown together thing. we make a few calls once the snow piles up and go have fun.

here's an example of how hard it is to set up a snow drive on a 2- or 3-month advance notice.

take the renowned (notorious) Vermont Winter Challenge, an SCCA winter road rally on some of the most remote and twisty roads in northern New England. It's put on annually by John Buffum, who knows a thing or 3 about setting up a great rally.

JB knows the good routes and great roads....but the conditions year to year are a total crapshoot. Even though the event is scheduled in midwinter when contidions should be good...wtf can really be sure about all that!?

One time it'll be wonderful, snowing like mad with big poofy snowbanks and you'll slip and slide pinballing off the banks all nite and have a riot to remember for life.

Another year, the roads will be slick with dreaded black ice, the biggest problem is actually appalling dust from cars ahead of you, snowbanks are like concrete, and numerous cars will skeetch offroad and get crunched. You remember those for all the wrong reasons.

If anyone here has any genius ideas of how to get around this, we're all ears!

lol most of these guys put their cars away when it rains...good luck getting any sort of nonsunny group drive together.
well AwwSheet will do it..he is hard core. lol he took a lowered GTI into the woods with us in the dead of winter in a blizzard. balls o steel.

don't get me started on newer subes reputations and reality. I would spark of the 1987 carbed at -27F and go for a ride, sounds like fun.

...not trying to hijack, but..

I know about the Team O'Neil winter rally and now thanks to Dave, the Vermont Winter Challenge. What other rallies are there around New England? I have a really hard time waiting all year for NEFR, which is obviously the biggest event around here. How is the spectating at these other regional rallies? I really love going to watch!!!

im down for a winter rally if we can get something together my old wagon and i had many of good trips around the loaf a couple winters ago

VT Winter is not a rally to watch, it's one to go in. Time-speed-distance event, with speeds specced no more than posted limits. Maybe that sounds slow, but in winter maybe not! Street cars with minimal prep--mainly good snow tires and skidplates and tow straps. The event is advised for experienced rally ppl only, it's not quite the place to get a taste of TSD rally. Maybe you could start as a codriver, or find an experienced codriver if you want to start.

check ner.org for other TSD rallies to get started.
