2010 Team O'Neil Rally

it looks as though the crossmember we obtained is actually a bent crossmember, of course you must put the car back together to find that out. soooooo, we may be done after all.

we've called it. not enough time to re-install another crossmember, fab a new front bumper piece to reattached the REAL skidplate. so next event is probably a hillclimb. note: primitive skid plates might be good for rallycross, not real rally.

I can vouch for that!! have you seen mine? mine has many real road miles on it, and it shows.. hehe

the plates themselves are plenty tough for real rally. We ran one on Tulip the rally RS for years. What's NOT up to real rally duty is the mounts for the plates on a GC Impreza, esp the front rad support. The sheet metal rad support is so fragile that in many impacts the metal crumples, which allows the skidplate to direct forces rearward and damage the transmission mounts. Don't axe how I learnt this!

It would be well worth the effort to fab up a beefier front rad mount with some 1' box tube (triangulated back up to front strut towers), which will also have the fringe benefit of protecting bottom of rad and oil pan better.

Anything I can help do tonight to get it back in the rally?

Good luck everyone competing today! Have fun. Be safe.

Sorry, Al and Kat. sad.

99obs and myself are service crew for Matt and Kristin Przybysz 779 and 148 today. The rain has stopped for a bit thankfully, and the only problems we've had thus far is a blown brake hose and a torn front axle boot on Matt's Sti. Kristin's production class fwd impreza has been problem free all day, other then a small defroster issue which was a 2min fix! Let's hope the rain holds out and our last service is trouble free! Then it's off to spectate at Chicks gravel to spectate!!

Just got back and had a great time today. The rain wasn't too bad and getting to the spectator spots was really easy with a GPS. I didn't see many MS folks there, but I did get to hang out with Dan at Chicks for a stage. Too bad the LDR team had a DNF....NEFR isn't far away though!

If you were with Dan all day, then You saw me.. i was in Fast Sweep.. heh

Finally managed to get on the wifi in the hotel on my phone, what a pain.

Today went well.

Number one thing, everyone is safe, no injuries.

Second. A million thank yous to everyone involved. Drivers, co-drivers, service crews, people in charge, workers, spectators, everyone and there moms. There is A LOT that goes into these events, and every bit helps.

A huge thanks to jimbo for letting me crash + giving me a ride this weekend; rezpunk for giving me a ride and room last weekend. If it weren't for you guys generosity, I wouldn't have been able to be a part of working this rally MikeD for keeping me company at the finish for a stage, I was feeling physically terrible and having a friend there helped.

I worked start/finish for chicks all day, it was an experience. Rain all day, but so worth it. I was poorly prepared but we made it. Everything in our work group went smooth.

Finally this was a great experience, and I am going to be hounding everyone on here about NEFR; whether you sign up to work or spectate, everything helps the sport. JULY 16 + 17 (I think) MARK YOUR CALENDAR. Even you showcar guys on here should make it out, trust me its worth it.

Peace out, typing this post out on a cellphone sucks. Deeper thoughts may come later. Ill leave the results talk for others.

OMFG. Where to start after a rally weekend like this??

Just back home, nonstop drive from Whitefield and rally HQ. LDR had a totally fun weekend despite the mechanical DNF. We were dicing for the lead througout the first half of the rally until a busted clutch parked us in the middle of the raod on an uphill start. Yeh it sucks to break the car, but at least we din't screw up and wreck out

Have to say that this rally literally could NOT have happened without the support from Mainely Subarus members. I'm gonna have to think carefully on how to thank all the MS membAs who contributed mightily to making the event happen.

#1 and Queen Of Ye Rallye is Katnip, whose demeanor is exactly suited to running a rally. Yes, she organized and coordinated the entire event, calm cool & collected. Talk about multi-tasking! I'm an event promoter by trade, and let me tellya, I'd hire this lady to run a Big Show any day. Kat you rock no matter how dirty your sti is

Then comes just the MS peeps I actually saw (or know by sight) who all were working to make event happen in professional manner:

Pedro & Ty Ty = Sweepairs Extroadinaire (even tho we broke, glad not to have needed your services) , Mr Med man RezDog (ditto). Mr Stage Captain Jimbo, I don't know ya by name, but I bet I know ya by sight. Got to meet Mike D and 2point5RSDan, who both came out to help.

RezPunk got a big ride codriving for the Turner/Sockalexis G2 Scoob, they were doing great until gravity prevailed and they got stuck, beached, high-centered etc trying to drive flat out up a gravel mountain. Eventually another rally racer pulled em out and they finished. Their car was well prepped with a solid service crew. Very credible effort by a strong young rally team. 2WD racers in the East, beware these guys.

OK, how many other MS members came out to spectate? Tell us yer stories, pleez!
