death of a ricer...birth of an rs

These were sort of a pain actually. They gave you just enough to tuck in the extra so it had to be exact to start or it wouldnt fit right. Came out really good though.

so ive noticed the last few days my rear suspension had a lot more flex than before the group drive. Got it up in the air and found both of my front trailing arm bushings shot. Rubber is totally disconnected from the metal sleeve an is all a float. NO BUENO. So I talked to Dan and ill be ordering the turn in concept race version bushings and upgrading the rest of them in the future.

If you want suspension, I'm the one to point you in the right direction.

I HIGHLY suggest you get the kit that has both front and rear trailing arm bushings, and do both at the same time. Also, the front has an inner ring, so after you burn out the bushing and center, you have to take a hacksaw or sawzall and cut a relief in the inner ring, so you have room to pry it up, take pressure off, and pound it out. It's an afternoon job, probably a 2 beer job.

After the group drive my breaks felt like garbage. Had to double pump it to get a good pedal. This weekend the squeal tab started making noise which was odd because I knew I had at least 5mm of pad. Well the calipers off and found this.

Brake pad separated from the backing and got stuck in there at an angle. Rotor got chewed up and obvious lack of contact rusted it.

Found the brake slide seized on one side and actually broke when I tried to free it up so I had to get a new caliper. 76 bucks at napa. Brakes are a lot better now. Silly car is starting to need work. Boooo

So my second o2 sensor of the year just failed. Car shot fireballs out the exhaust after it idled for a minute and would big down bad. Sadly I lost my receipt and had to cough up 80 bucks for another one. Receipt in lock box now.

Since I want to keep this car and I hate rust I bought some por15 and started painting all the problematic areas for the gc chassis. Obviously rear quarters and rocker panels. Stuff is expensive and doesn't come off if you get it on your self. Well see how it holds up

Bosch from crapa. I think that's factory. It's just a paint on product not the spray on. I don't think it's as bad for you but then I again I work in a shop full of dirty cars.

If you burn another out I would try a factory one napa says their stuff is the same as factory but I think it's more like factory seconds lol

So first snow fun of the season and it went bad already. Haha. Muffler came out of rear hanger and twisted at the resonator. Sadly she broke off and now it's just a great straight pipe!!! Ill see about welding it back on tomorrow at work and get some new rubber hangers.

Finally got around to fixing my exhaust. Broke off the cherry bomb and since it got dragged around abut it shortened the pipe. I luckily had a section of 3 inch pipe at the shop so I cut and sleeved the exhaust and welded it all back on. Wasn't pretty since we apparently have our welding mask to Hyundai so I did it blind. Next day my face burned and is now peeling. Stupid welder!!!!

For $35 and occasional welding it is the ticket. If you are doing it for a living spend the $350 for a good one.
