Decided on my mods

A Nasty FYI: An ECU re-flash will potentially void your factory warranty. If you have an issue with your car and take it to a dealership, they can tell that the ECU has been f'd with, and from what I'm told, even the Cobb AccessPort re-flashes show up, even if the car has been "re-set" to the OEM map and the AccessPort disconnected before the dealership looks at it.

Modifying a new STi is tricky, tricky, tricky.

Imo install the CAI (imo Cobb's is great, btw) and cat-back, (I like what I did, a lot: custom piping and a Vibrant "muffler",) and not an exhaust "system", personally.

...And see what you think, without a reflash. The OEM computer will "learn" a new CAI and cat-back, effortlessly.

If you want serious power from exhaust upgrades, then the cats must go, or at least be changed to hi-flow units, which still mess with the SoA warranty bs.

I envy you an "unmodified" STi.

If you flog the piss out of it, but stay within guidelines, a dealership will fix its' boo-boos.

Every time I hear a knock or ping, it's two-freaking-grand, it seems.

Please, take the time and appreciate what you've got in your new STi, it won't be long before your warranty is gone (for one reason or another, lol!) and you'll be in the same boat as the rest of us: The owner of a fancy, fast-as-hell car that's not as reliable as one would hope, that co$t$ a boatload of money to drive the way it was meant to be driven.

Race cars are expensive, and you, my friend, are the proud new owner of one.

Congratulations, um, er, I think.

Well said mr stixx!

the nore i think abotu it maybe it is better to go with a spt intake and exhaust i have heard the exhaust dosent sound too bad.

anyone have a link to a good place to buy spt from?

well just founbd out spt exhaust files down to 2.75" to fit up with stock downpipe wich rules out doign a downpipe in the future so that rules out the spt exhaust setup for sure

Yea but that works the other way too. If you get a 3" cat back it wont fit up well with the stock downpipe.

you can hook up an spt exhaust to a downpipe..... you just need the right adapter. it can be done easily.

IMHO if UR going to mod UR ride to unchoke it U might as well shoot the werx and go 3" all the way around...

It is planning for the future and will never leave U any regrets or doubts about not doing it....

Prolly sum extra $$$$$ up front but imho werth the investment.

ps: I sent my kids over to scratch UR car so U wont be so upset about UR rim anymore....

I now officially feel Ur pain and have recalled the minature troops from thier mission

I took a look in my STi folder at pages and pages of crap I had printed out in an effort to decide what to do to my car. I did this with every aspect of my car (all the way down to the excessive audio I do not use) and still have no logical justification for what I did and Y...

I assume U have spent endless hours looking at what can B done, what has been done and all the various modding sites...Took me months to make any type of decision about where I went! I'd probably need a nicotine patch the size of Delaware if I did that again and I don't smoke anymore~
