A Nasty FYI: An ECU re-flash will potentially void your factory warranty. If you have an issue with your car and take it to a dealership, they can tell that the ECU has been f'd with, and from what I'm told, even the Cobb AccessPort re-flashes show up, even if the car has been "re-set" to the OEM map and the AccessPort disconnected before the dealership looks at it.
Modifying a new STi is tricky, tricky, tricky.
Imo install the CAI (imo Cobb's is great, btw) and cat-back, (I like what I did, a lot: custom piping and a Vibrant "muffler",) and not an exhaust "system", personally.
...And see what you think, without a reflash. The OEM computer will "learn" a new CAI and cat-back, effortlessly.
If you want serious power from exhaust upgrades, then the cats must go, or at least be changed to hi-flow units, which still mess with the SoA warranty bs.
I envy you an "unmodified" STi.
If you flog the piss out of it, but stay within guidelines, a dealership will fix its' boo-boos.
Every time I hear a knock or ping, it's two-freaking-grand, it seems.
Please, take the time and appreciate what you've got in your new STi, it won't be long before your warranty is gone (for one reason or another, lol!) and you'll be in the same boat as the rest of us: The owner of a fancy, fast-as-hell car that's not as reliable as one would hope, that co$t$ a boatload of money to drive the way it was meant to be driven.
Race cars are expensive, and you, my friend, are the proud new owner of one.
Congratulations, um, er, I think.
Lol. mods plz post this as a Big F'n Sticky on main page of MS. Title: "A Manifesto Of Modding Scoobies"
