Just under 100k too. Meaning it needs timing belt, probably head gaskets, etc, etc. Lovely...

I called them about it to see if they were dead serious about that price, the salesman told me "you cannot find these anywhere and it is a very sought after high performance car, thus the markup" I just laughed at him and said good luck getting that much for a glorified Impreza. Even if it has new headgaskets, timing belt and two grand in cash in the glovebox they are still asking too much.

Yep. Problem is there still will be someone out there that'll buy it..... Mines now for sale....7995!!!!!

This '00 2.5rs was on my shortlist for winter beater.

I have been in contact with the guy who own it / is trying to sell it, and the wheel bearings are done, the coupe wing was supposed to be fixed, and was supposed to have a set of inspectable tires put on. The head gaskest doesn't need to be done NOW but it is burning oil (not coolant yet), so they would need to be done soon.

For the money it would be a great project, as long as you continue to DD your current car, and once it's fixed you are good to go. It is an auto, though. But that isn't anything a wrx swap won't cure.

If I was going for all around DD reliability I would go with a corolla, or a sentra. But I could never give up the AWD the Subaru has.

Get an old legacy. Mine goes along quite nice. Give it gas and oil and it'll run for a long time.

1.8 impreza wagon. Find one that's for sale south of NYC and go and get it so its not all rusted out on you. My first rallycross car was a 1.8 wagon with 220K on it. Rusted out on me but nothing ever broke even after is spanked the piss out of it.

It will still be a subaru, its still AWD, its still easy to fix and its still cheap. Put the money into your race car
