SiF Motorsports. A shitty legacy, nearly 10 years of RS racing turned rally car. Bonus jeep and mustnag junk

That's pretty good power for a stock 2.5!

Did you ever get your suspension dialed in/figured out?

STi inserts are in a box waiting to be mailed out for revalve. Using sti springs even though they're too low. It's a compromised setup, but it fits the budget.

Are regular WRX springs, or even OBS springs an option? Those wouldn't be as low as STi springs.

Detailed the 600 dollar beater. Not bad for 199,851 miles.

Worked on getting RS spares ready this afternoon:

The rear dust shields always rust through and bend. They are spot welded on. I remove them.

You can do it with a pair of vice grips and twisting:

I did the first one that way to demonstrate it can be done with them.

Second one goes a lot easier with an air hammer and chisel attachment:

Then I take the grinder and knock off the spot welds. Stops raisin from getting caught in them.

I put all the good spare stuff in one area today:

WRX front knuckle pair
Forester front knuckle pair
WRX rear knuckle pair
Forester control arms
RS rear axles
NA LGT rear axles
Forester rear axles
4.44 LSD rear diff
WRX catback

Need to bring all the knuckles somewhere to have my ARP studs put in and new wheel bearings done. If anyone has any suggestions of where I should go lemme know.

Next up was mustang work.

Removed rear gas tank as requested:

All the lines rusted off and broke.

We need to come up with a fuel pump solution.

I took a bbq brush to the underbody after the tank was out. The shell is good. Better than the last one which had holes through the trunk floor. This one the only thing rotted out was on the side where the bumper mounts to. Subaru's are worse connected stock, so I deem it a non-issue.

Weight reduction:

Up next is panhard bar and torque arm. That is going to be a raisin show.

Inserts are in the mail. Revalved and ready to go. Odi mentioned that they weren't 04 sti, but actually JDM. He had to throw them on the shock dyno to verify. Few minor differences but still the same.

All I need is some Pedro spec housing work and rally suspension will be done.

Logbook guy is giving me the run around. Said he'd ready my emails twice now and hasn't.

3x sheets of LDPE are being ordered for under body protection and wheel well.

Found someone to press in new wheel bearings and ARP studs.

Suspension tear out day is coming together.

We might build a 2.2 with 2.5 heads as a spare or primary motor. My motor sounds like ass, but keeps on going.

Read the rule book the other night.

Things left:

spill kit

first aid kit

disable electric door locks

disable steering lock

remove steering wheel airbag (already disabled)

I need a set of outback alloys and to have some meyagi tire mounting done. And work on some extra decals.

Nice work Dan. Will see you guys at Nefr. I will be working scrutineering, otherwise would have offered to lend a hand at rally. Good work with write up. Very informative for anyone who is looking to get into sport and build a car.

How is the log book Escapade? You still getting nothing but a bag of dicks from the guy?
Called him twice and said I emailed you my pics of the issues you had that I have revised. Each time got an "ill look at 'em tonight".... still haven't heard raisin.

Cleaned and painted the replacement diff.

Hub/knuckle stuff going to a special someone on here:

All sorts of crap that needs to be installed on the car next saturday:

IMG_20130608_102048.jpg

I also made a video of the stock trailing arm bushings on a set of trailing arms I got box'd from Chris:

And the bolt frozen to the bushing sleeve after sawzalling out:

All standard subaru affairs.

Went to get more acetelyne and stopped in to see Ally and her dad doing a transmission swap. Wish I coulda stayed and helped, but I had a mountain of mustang to get back to.

Most of today was mustang work.

Old crap removed, uppers and kicker shocks:

IMG_20130608_110354.jpg

Torque arm, panhard bar, subframe connectors all in.

On the way home, the 600 dollar legacy hit 200k miles:

Updating my part:

Dan dropped off 6 knuckles to me yesterday to have 4 bearings/seals and arp wheel studs put in. Took it all to the shop and started in.

9esuzy7u.jpg

4 fronts and 2 rear... 2 extra fronts for spare parts just in case.

Hub is pressed out and old bearing still needs to be pressed

6yvuzuna.jpg

Cut the old race and split with a chisel and hammer and it slides off.

New arp studs are pressed in. These things are so long!!!

abere6uh.jpg

New bearing is pressed in, time to press the hub back into the knuckle.

And this is the final product!!! Rally ready knuckles. 3 more to go.
