Slip N' Slide Rallycross

don't ask how I learnt this.... :

...it was an expensive lesson (like, "don't bounce off roadside ledges at 55 mph and expect to keep going...)
I think I have a picture of that

probably not...I was talking about Tall Pines 2004 where we hit the rocks BAM, then headlights, grille, bumper bits and who knows what else flies over the hood. We land in the middle of the road, stalled. This is partway thru a bad downhill right AFTER a blind crest.

So there's all this smoke and steam coming out fom the front. Our chimes just got rung big-time and we're kind of dazed and "Tweet-tweet-tweet." It was like "You OK??!! Yeh, I'm OK, are you OK?? " Then reality kicks in--we are in a BAD position here. J tries to start the car, it'll barely turn over.

"JOHN!! start the car and get it out of the road!!

"Dave!!! The car won't run. GET OUT AND GET THAT TRIANGLE UP THE ROAD!!!"

So I did, and was able to keep oncoming rally traffic from creaming us.

FMIC piping was torn off (as was most of the left from suspension), so clearly that car was going nowhere except with a wrecker. The Spearco itself, fortunatley, was fine and despite a couple dients n dings survived to do many more rallies.
MFR 2005, you were off on the left unable to restart with a shattered wheel. I thought I remembered the intercooler piping being bent/off on that one too.

sheesh. You WOULD have to remind me of MFR 05...that's the wreck that finished off poor dear departed T2 for good.

It was one whack too many, and that shell was toast. I/C pipe was bashed a bit, but that was the least of the issues. Hitting a VW-size rock and smashing a wheel? Sure, but that was more or less just a flesh wound. It was landing on the boulder pile in the opposite ditch that smooshed in the unibody, front suspension hard points, and A-pillar area. Not Repairable.

We were fine, tho. Classic case of the car giving its all right to the very end.

well that's rally right? I now own the sweep rollover from a couple years ago. just looking for a chassis to swap the parts out into.

yep, that's rally all right

and to think, it all started with a run around the maine forest rallyX some years ago, it seemed so freakin radical at the time.

my ex-wife's poor Leggy GT wagon was never the same after her spouse landed on the slippy slope!

That it is

I was quite impressed with my ride in the 'Teg-o-fury.

Great event, BIG thanks to all the organizers. It was nice to finally place

thanks to all the STMers that got there early and lended a hand with things through out the day. Yes, that includes you RAD.

68 cars for the day is a lot for Belmont, but all seemed to go really smoothly, 5 runs is pretty good for that number of drivers.

Thanks guys, Kathy

5 runs was decent considering the number of entrants and the amount of course work that was needed on what seemed an every other car basis.

awesome job again, had a blast.

looking forward to the April event. cant do the May one...its my Graduation from EMCC weekend. i will most likely be inebriated on that sunday.

VTEC!!! we dont need no stinking VTEC....

non-vtaaaack for the win!!!

yeah im hthinking of buying a Type-R transmission....came standard with LSD.

only 1200 for a used one. $2000 for a new one.

excellent event, good food and company!

Rob, I am glad to hear that you guys made it to and back from an event without any issues.

We'll see about April...I need to get some other work done first.

like the man said, "Must be the vinyl!"

Well, my overall damage total is a broken steering stabilizer, left rear shock is finally completely gone (it was bent before the event, now is toast), engine is idling rough and misfiring every now and then. That probably has nothing to do with the rallycross, and everything to do with the plugs that have 85k miles on them...

Had a fun time on both Saturday and Sunday. Steph Jaz is definately awesome for last minute navigating for me running sweep on Saturday (last minute as in Friday afternoon calling her because my navie was sick), everything was awesome.

I think my shoes are finally dry now. Heh.

Ty, Try some Rancho 5000 or 9000's Advance autoparts will replace them for free when they blow out.

I go through a front set every Rally :
