The unofficial GUN talk thread

Well, a .303 doesn't quite have the velocity of a .308 round. 308s are pretty close to 3k, but the 303 is more around 2600ish. We shall see. I'm off to cabelas anyway to stock up on 30 carbine, just noticed that I'm rather low.

Scored a 500rnd. drybox of 30carb. Yay. Decided to take inventory when I got home, haha.

I do know that he said that we werent going to be able to shoot .308 rifle rounds. But they rent machine guns there, so I imagine you can shoot most of anything we have.

I recommend that if anyone has any concerns, to give a call down and ask about your particular guns.
The old range doesn't rent machine guns anymore (maybe the MP5) All the stuff at the new range you can rent.

How good are you at figuring out carbine issues inski? I've got a nagging jamming issue that been bugging me for a while.

Update! Just moving this info forward to make sure everyone is informed. I called back and I was in fact correct. The limit is 2000FPS or under. Sorry guys. No AK's, 308's, or 223's. It just cant handle it. Please let me know if that changes anything for anyone.

Our resvevation is for 1:00 on Sunday Feb 6th. Sorry for the late time. They have a class in the morning and its going to hog up the whole range till noon, then they have to clean up.

As for price, its all based on the number of people we end up showing up with. For large groups they will only give us a group rate. We have half the range to ourselves. (5 lanes) and is $175 an hour. At this point we have over 10 people coming, so it will be $17/hr or less. And I imagine we will be there for 2 hours..

list:

Nate

KDice

Adam from EG

2point5RS Dan

GClark

Pedro

Let me know if you are interested in going and you are not on the list please let me know. I want to make sure we are not showing up with extra people that they are not prepared for. I know most of us are coming from different areas, so I would say the best place for us to converge would be at the NH state liquor store on the rotary in Portsmouth. Then we can all get back on and get heading to Manchester together. (Local area people are on your own to make plans for rides/meeting up prior to NH). If we meet in Portsmouth at 10:30am, that should give us time to chat a bit, and head to Manchester and maybe grab some fast food/sandwich prior to shooting. Anyone that knows the area can you chime in with ideas. Ive never been there, no do I know the area.

I know what you're thinking. If I had another job snow wouldn't stop me on the weekend. But I plow for a local municipality, so if there's white on the ground I'm at work

Ahhh, right on. You're free from my incessant cackling, for now.

I think Brighton is in now.

The old range kinda sucks, so bring a mask or something if you have breathing issues.

Gets smokey???

Pedro. I know you have been there. Will you be meeting up at the meeting place? Should we maybe move it to the Kennebunkport rest stop? Then you can lead us all there?

The old range is directly behind and to the left of the new range. (you could accurately hit it with a HI point9mm)

basically go 101W to the brown st exit, Left off exit.

Go .5mi until you pass a Citgo on your left. Take the next right. That leads you to Gay St. Gay st will T with Tessier(what you are on). The range is the brick building in front of you to the left.

It is pretty easy, but I may not be able to make the drive as of yet. My sched is pretty tight with the wee one.

<-- going to pick up a brandy new ruger sr9c tomorrow after work. I may still be in depending on the weather Saturday. If I. Have to plow third shift the night before I may just sleep on the way down if dan's still bringing me( text me: 8909218)

You won't be disappointed. I had a full size OD green SR9 and loved it. Sold it to fund another gun build..... But I am planning on an SR9c to replace it. Probably for carry and target shooting. I just can't get my long monkey hands around a Glock 26, otherwise I would have one of those instead.

Anyone have a G26 and big hands? The only way I could get one to feel right was with a G19 mag in it... which kind of negates the whole idea behind it.

I held both the sr9 and sr9 c. Full size was too big so I'm getting compact with a stubby 10rd mag and an extended grip 17

Let us know how you like it! I am going to grab one at Howell's in Gray in a couple weeks. I am thinking black/stainless...? if they offer it in the compact.
