The unofficial GUN talk thread

it has been ten years since I bought them, so that looks like a slightly new design of what I have. And my colors are reversed. I have yellow front, and orange rears. The yellow is brighter, if you have a chance get yellow for the front bead. Its easier to pick up.

I was told today at the shop by a cabelas employee that bushmasters, an assault rifle company I was told, will be going out of business and the employees are selling there rifles that typically go for big money to them for dirt cheap. I'm not sure of the asking price from cabelas but it should be a good deal.

Yeah. Bushmaster ARs are the bottom of the line ARs, but still a nice rifle. Howell's had new ones for 750 for the standard m4 style. The people who own Remington bought Bushmaster and they're moving to CT or something. The Windham shop will be closing for good this month. Sad. A hundred or so folks lost their jobs. Other machine shops in the area are affected also losing sub-contracts from Bushmaster. Its hard to be competitive in Maine.

Hey Matt, let me know when you go down there. I'm interested in a magnetic fiber optic front sight for my round (no ribbed) barrel. Text me a price, and I'll toss you a little extra for your troubles.

Pick one put on cabelas.com, text me the name and I'll grab it while I'm there. I was thinking of going tonight after I meet up with ray cuz the woman's working

First day of soncealed carry with the 5inch ka-bar iwb in kydex sheath ( I know, gun talk) 15 hours and hardly ever noticed it. Plus got my fiber optic sights on the shotgun, holy eff, idk how I existed before them

It did not help that Windham kept giving bushmaster grief about their test range. so no more problem there I guess..

as for .223/5.56 I would not shoot a deer with it unless you don't mind tracking it a few hundred yards after.

.223 is great for plinking, coyotes and fictional zombie hoards.

ALso I guess Falmouth Rod/gun is closed for the time being...

Royal river has very limited ranges. 25 pistol

and 100 rifle (through tubes) both set ranges and paper only.

The next closest Windham only has indoor pistol...

Lame. I usually go to Brownfield but its about a hour drive...

As it is I usually end up spending 20-30 min post shooting cleaning up a few pieces of shot up trash others leave.

I use my dads yard for everything but the high powered rifles. So far the game warden that moved in down the street hastn't had to come introduce himself yet

Has anyone else seen the series " sons of guns" on the discovery channel? They work on some badass stuff

Its a little staged I think.... well a lot really. But I do enjoy the gun aspect of it. I DVR all the episodes.

It is staged somewhat. Red Jacket's main source of business is silencers. The don't ever do any retail business. All that other stuff they show is for TV. Especially the exploding targets.

I like the show because there is some seriousness behind it all most folks don't understand.

*forest fires when using tracer rounds. Been there done that. You could lose a 100 acres real quick.

*It takes a very stout person to shoulder a 1919 machine gun.

* Head space and timing are your friend and enemy when trying to get a M2 .50cal to rock and roll. don't blow up that receiver!!! Get that head space and timing correct or die!

*The owner is a douche bag but that's the way a lot of people are in LA.

*X-raying a Civil War cannon, good idea. Shooting it after finding voids, not a good idea.

Alex's Mosin Nagant Scout rifle. It will dismantle a moose. Total cost of the project $219 including the rifle. Thinking about doing my own version of this, 16" barrel, extended mag, once my income recovers from those domestic challenges. (dry well and defunk septic system, dang it!!) Cheaper than any 30-06 out there.

Please tell me when this happens. I want in on the build!

My enfield was cheaper, 7.98 for an ejector spring, but that was luck. I think the 16" with extended mag will be awesome

das review of ati six position stock with forend kit to fit mossberg/remington/ winchester 1300. Pistol grip telescoping stock was cool...ish. raised cheek weld so looking down my sights was uncomfortable, oh yeah the forend didn't fit my gun, even though the box said it would. Called customer service and left the technician a voicemail 2 hours ago and no call back. I don't know if this would work better with the other models, but I'm wasting another trip to cabelas tomorrow unless someone wants to buy it from me tomorrow after work

* note: I only purchased this kit because ati is one of few companies that make products for win 1300. If someone had rem/ mossberg, knoxx makes the same style with built in recoil supression
