The unofficial GUN talk thread

I'm more of a folder guy. I'm always carrying my Spyderco Delica or Endura. The Tom Brown was just something I wanted if I wanted to add a nice fixed blade. Might look at having a custom leather sheath made for it. So I can carry fully horizontal at the small of my back.

So I picked up my next project... I'll keep you all the loop about my progress. I'm going to be building a mosin nagant scout rifle. I was able to find a mosin 91/30 with a ATI synthetic stock already installed. Came with all the factory goodies and stock also. I've already pounded off the rear sight, and will be using the dovetail to mount a long eye relief scope. First order of business is chopping the barrel down to to 16"-17" (need to decide) and building a custom muzzle break at my fathers machine shop.

Sweet. I love scout rifles. At the moment I'm really missing having a carry gun so that's my next venture. If I ever get money

Definitely get one man. If you're in the market for a Ruger LC9, come shoot mine, and I might even be able to give you a price on mine.. I'm interested in replacing it with a Kahr. I want a striker fired gun again like a Glock.

Lc9 isn't striker fired? Sr9 was. In retrospect I should have kept the sr9, but I Was frustrated with accuracy. Today my father pointed out that in the event I ever had to use it, It would be <10ft shooting distance and I could hit a milkjug all day at that distance, let alone a person sized target

You have to realize that even though they can be very accurate with practice, that they do take a lot of practice and trigger control. The smaller the gun, the harder they are to be accurate. The site picture is shorter, and the barrel is too. How many rounds did you put through the SR9? Your father is right, most interactions happen with in 7 yards, and chances are they are within less then 10'. You don't need to be driving tacks with the gun at 50' its a handgun NOT a rifle.

The LC9 if hammer fired.

I put 200 through the sr9. Truthfully I was good enough with it hat I shouldn't have gotten rid of it, I just had a bad day at the range with it the day before and fell in love with my new 12ga at the gun show

I love my Glocks, but couldn't carry one come summer. Just too thick. I'm loving the new mix of stopping power and thin profile of the single stack 9mm guns. It's what makes me ables to carry every day. once the clothes start getting thicker again I will def swap back to my Glock 23.

So now I'm curious, for those of you who carry concealed, what firearm do you trust your life with? General specs plz, I know much but not all

Walther P99 QA .40s&w. I have a Walther PK380 that I bought to replace the gigantic P99...but no. The .380 would do more damage if I chucked it at someones face. Take that as you want...either the .380 has no stopping power, or the gun is an unreliable piece of shite...either one works.

Tyty I know. 380 has no stopping power. Coworker shot a porcupine 7 times with one andit still ran away. I think I'd rather carry my 22 with cci stingers than a 380

I would rock a Kel-tec PMR30 as a carry gun.

They may not have a whole lot of stopping power...but 30 pissed of mosquitoes all biting you in a few seconds is a real SHE DOG.

I-wagon: I found this a few days ago. FWIW. Obviously a specific caliber but I personally will stick with 9mm for relatively affordable ammo so I can practice, practice, practice. I wholeheartedly believe that part of gun safety is the shooter should be able to hit what he shoots at. If you miss, your life, or some by-stander's life, could be in danger.
