And the carbine comes apart again...

Still trying to pin down my problem with jamming and rounds not going all the way into the chamber. Replaced the recoil spring to see if the problem was there...nope. I think I'm just gonna have to take it to Howells and have their gunsmith take a look. I need them to knock the rear sight the rest of the way on anyway. On a better note, I finally got the slide stop to work. Hurray! Had to order a new spring after my last attempt to replace it sent the little thing flying past my head at warp speed.

My stripper clips for the Enfield came in too. Well...four out of 12 anyway. Shot them an email, and got a response right away saying the remaining 8 would be shipped out, no questions. Thumbs up for buymilsurp.com

nate, is that mig or tig welded? What did you use for scope mounts? Mine isn't strong enough. The gun recoils right out of the scope mounts.

I don't know what kind of welding was used. I just told the guy that the bolt isn't stainless and the handle is. He used stainless rod. I wouldn't try it on your own unless you have good sanding machines, and different buffing wheels. Took me lots of work to get it to look like it does.

The mounts are 3/8" dovetail mounts. I believe mine is moving a bit too. I will be fixing that though. I plan on drilling and tapping a block of steel down to the top of the dovetail in between the mounts. Basically the mounts will rest against the block and it won't be able to go anywhere.

I have a strong urge to trade in my carbine for something a bit smaller. A while ago Howells had a revolver I wanted at a very good price. Problem is its probably gone or they wont give me much for my trade.

well that messes up my plans. Can't have two carbines in the same store, brings down the value

Mines not going for sale, just trying to see if their gunsmith can fix it, and get the rear sight knocked on.

I had to leave her behind. Hopefully they'll call later today as I don't have another time to pick it up for 4 weeks or so.
